Please if you can could you help advise me how to ease some of my symptoms .I will be very grateful .
On my last blood test my TSH increased from 0.32 to 3.47 and it is assumed by the Endo that I’m over medicated. I was for 10 weeks on 10 mg of Carbimazole and the dose was reduced from 20mg at the end of Feb.
For the past week I was told to reduce it to 5mg and I will require a restest in 4 weeks at the end of May.
I had a sudden death in my family at the beginning of the month and I had to attend the funeral . I believe I been affected immediately contrary to what the Endo thinks. I felt so cold after I heard the news I only warmed up after I stayed in a hot bath for 4 hrs. I went abroad by plane to the funeral and I was worried about my eyes but they only swollen a bit and then settled. I still look like a weirdo with my TED eyes but they are somehow starting to settle a bit.
On my return to the UK for the past few days I developed a rash all over my legs and arms. It is like a heat rash and i took some antihistamines. It stopped being painful but the red rash remained on. I have also very swollen painful cold fingers. They are really numb and my knuckles hurt. I have pins and needles in my legs and swollen toes as well and I am really tired. When I went for a walk yesterday I felt really really slow. I also have this very strange stabbing pain at the back of my knees.
I pay for private Endo care and my appointments are virtual via Teams and last about 10 min.

T4 9.3 , T3 4.4, TSH 0.32

T4 12.3(11.5-22.7)
T3 5.1(3.5-6.5)
TSH 3.47(0.55-4.78)

Keep taking antihistamine. Dr right to lower carbimazole as FT4 & FT3 was too low. Adjust medication by FT4 & FT3. TSH isn’t reliable, will lag behind results.
Symptoms may be due to low FT4 & FT3.
Test 6 weeks after adjustment. Might need to reduce further. Dr view 5mg as lowest dose, but some find they need to take half a pill or every other day.
Thank you for your answer. I changed my diet in December when I first had the thyroid storm. I stopped alcohol , caffeine ,limited dairy and gluten. At the funeral I overindulged in soya and gluten. It is very possible I developed a sensitivity to gluten as reintroduced it suddenly and in large quantities.
I shall request a gp appointment as I’m due to retest my vit levels but I’m not holding my breath to happen soon.
I do the vit d protocol and I’m eating beef liver sporadically but I do not think I’m getting the right amount to get the nutrients I probably need.
Can you recommend a good b12 supplement? Or is it advisable to test first and then take a supplement?
Yes , I was given a diagnosis of Graves Disease in December and I was put on Carbimazole 30mg which has been steadily decreased as my values went down. I am now overmedicated and I’m struggling . I am afraid I will lose my job as I’m just not right and constantly struggling. I am on reduced hours and my Occupational Health is amazing but I cannot help but worry all the time . I also have a therapist I could access free via work but I haven’t brought myself yet to phone the designated line.
I had a hard time with Carbimazole at the begining and I did developed a rash and tonsillitis but I did persevere with it and it did help with my symptoms. I did pursed treatment with an Endo privately . It is not ideal as the follow up appointments cost £125 but at least I have someone supervising me with my treatment .
The rash just appeared on Thursday out of the blue and it’s different from the one in December . I do think it could be a reaction to gluten. It is the numbing of my legs and arms that worries me now though . As soon as I think I’m getting better the next second I am falling apart ! 😞

You have had a very difficult time for several months and it must be have left you totally exhausted before this sad news over the last few weeks - try and rest up-
Your April 30th blood test is looking good and your TSH has recovered -
but bloods tend to run behind symptoms by a couple of weeks - so hang on in there -
it is a vast improvement from 23rd February where only your T3 was hanging in the bottom of the range with your T4 and TSH having fallen through their bottom of the ranges.
All the Anti Thyroid drug is ' buy you time ' while we wait for the immune system to calm back down again and hopefully your thyroid will revert to normal function without the need for any drugs.
It's a bit like a plane waiting circling above waiting for a landing slot - slowly dropping height -and then lining up and making a smooth landing - and for you hopefully the AT will be titrated way down and your landing also a soft, safe one.
When metabolism runs too fast as in hyper or too slow as in hypo - the body struggles to extract key nutrients through food no matter how well and clean you eat and non optimal level of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D can compound your health issues further.
Graves is poorly understood and badly treated - and I doubt your O/H can add more but just touch base with people and keep them in the loop - I'm afraid there's no time scale that works for anyone/everyone - we are all unique and it will take as long as it takes :
