St George’s NHS 1st Appointment Query

Is anyone treated under St George’s NHS? I had a question about the first appointment. The letter states to bring a urine sample. Was this necessary?

I was sent an appointment for a first appointment there but it did not mention a urine sample. It’s now been cancelled and changed to a different location anyway but no mention of bringing samples. I’d ignore, you can always do it when you get there.

So bad. Perhaps contact PALS?

Some endocrinologists like to check urine for signs of diabetes

Well we wouldn't want to give them any excuse to turn it from a thyroid appt into a Diabetes one now would we? 😉

Very true. Some endos are definitely more knowledgeable in diabetes health than thyroid health!

We just need to find an Endo who personally has thyroid issues so will understand!

I am waiting for an eminent (but disliked for good reason) endo who has actually let it be known he has a thyroid issue. He is extremely anti T3. Anti hypothyroid patients too according to some of his public comments.

If he needed T3 would we ever find out?

I definitely question his understanding!

I reckon you should ask him once you see him. If they are at St George’s can you please PM me so I know to avoid?

Unfortunately Curious123, the endo I am referring to works in the North East. Perhaps jimh111 can answer this question. I am not familiar at all with St. George’s or even know where it is.

Ok thanks. It’s South West London (main hospital in the tv show 24hrs in A&E).

Aha. Yes this may be the hospital jimh111 has reported having problems with. If so I hope he will reply to you.

Thanks. Fingers crossed. I saw one of their Endo privately in 2020 and it was a mixed bag so hopefully it goes better. One appears to be on the Thyroid UK list so might have to try and ask for them.
