Im currently taking 100mcg of eltroxin and wanted to use start using CBD.
I had done a quick google and it says that the two interact with each other and have gotten a little bit worried as ive been vaping cbd since yesterday.
Does anyone know if it's safe to use the two together? I have asked a local doctor and he said to not use the two as it may cause problems.
Also just to add it has always been just my TSH values that have been elevated which was why I was originally put on 25mcg and then up to 100mcg eventually.
Recent bloods were
TSH 4.540
Free thyroxine 20.4
Free T3 4.8
Reasoning behind me want to use CBD is because I suffer with a bit of anxiety which is manageable by therapy and exercise etc but I would like to use it in the night time to aid with just relaxing the mind and doing a bit of yoga.
Appreciate any help!

I'm not sure about the interaction but I did find that CBD lowered my cortisol which wasn't helpful as it was already low which certainly interferes with uptake of thyroid hormones... I'm thinking your anxiety is likely due to your thyroid hormones yet to be optimized as your TSH is still too high suggesting your body would like your fT3 a little higher
What are the ranges for these results, what time of day and how long after your last dose?
So we can offer better advice, can you add ranges for your blood tests (in brackets after results) as these can vary between laboratories.
What time of day was the blood draw? When did you last take Levothyroxine before the blood draw?
Have you ever had any antibody tests to see if your thyroid issues are auto immune?
Have you any blood test results for key thyroid vitamins (ferritin, folate, vitamins D and B12). Having these optimal supports thyroid health.
If your GP is unable to complete all the above, you could look to do this privately, as many forum members do, for a better picture of your thyroid health:
I know nothing about CBD oil, so cannot comment on this.
In the first instance, I recommend trying to optimise your thyroid levels and key thyroid vitamins. When you add the ranges for FT3 and FT4 we will be able to determine if you have conversion issues.
I’ve found that taking a magnesium supplement early evening helps me relax and unwind & eases anxiety levels.
just looking on the slip of paper they gave me and there's no mention of FT4 unless its called something else but here is what I can see related to thyroid
TSH - 4.540 (0.27- 4.2)
Free Thyroxine - 20.4 (12 - 22)
Free T3 - 4.8 (3.1 - 6.8)
The blood draw was taken in the morning at 9:30AM and the last dose would of been taken at 9 the previous day.
I had the vitamin tests a couple of weeks back and my doctor just said everything was in range but never gave me the results on paper so that I could see.
But yeah the anxiety is the main thing which is kind of making my life harder. I was previously on escitalopram for 2 years but came off it because I was just numb to everything and was able to get myself better through therapy and yoga etc while on the SSRI.
Think it might be worthwhile to go back and get another blood draw and ask for the other values?
Free Thyroxine is FT4. How long have you been taking 100mcg Levo?
I would phone GP and ask for a print out of key vitamin results and share with us when you get them. Remember you are legally entitled to copies of all blood tests.
I would definitely ask for thyroid antibodies to be tested. If GP unable/ unwilling then I would look to do this privately.
Increased anxiety has been the worst symptom of having a thyroid condition for me and it is always worse if thyroid medication or key vitamins (ferritin, folate, vitamins B12 and D) are not optimal.
My GP initially diagnosed me with ‘ health anxiety’, suggested I saw a psychotherapist & offered me anti depressants. Joining this forum helped me realise that my symptoms were related to being under medicated and I followed forum advice to improve this.
Around three years now that ive been on 100mcg. interestingly the dosage went up as my weight started to fluctuate up the way but not sure if thats linked.
Exact same with the doctors telling me I have health anxiety! just feel like I never needed the SSRI.
Ok perfect ill get a copy of them tomorrow and report back!
To answer your question: no, you cannot take them at the same time. Both levo and CBD oil need to be taken strictly on their own, at least 2 hours away from everything else.
I didn't know you could vap CBD, but in any case, that wouldn't affect absorption of your levo because it doesn't go into the stomach. So, you're ok on that score.
Ah amazing! thats good to know! anything ive been reading says not to and then I asked my doctor and he just googled it in front of me and said no and I could of done that myself like!
Well I took it for quite some time. I'm on T3, but same difference. And never noticed that it had an negative effects on anything - quite the opposite. But I took my T3 in the morning, and CBD at night.
I am currently using cbd and on 100mg of Levothyroxine. I haven't noticed any side effects, I've used it on/off since 2020 to aid with muscle and nerve pain to help me relax. As I'm sensitive to a lot of medications and had more side effects with pain meds being used together. I'm back on it now as the spray. My GP hasn't given much information on my thyroid bloods last time as I'm always questioning the ranges and corrections that keep appearing on my blood tests. If it helps with anxiety and your vsping then just keep an eye on thyroid blood tests. I was taking Biotin for hair and nails due to thyroid and it did have a knock on effect so was advised by GP nit to take. He is aware also I use cbd spray but has never commented, although probably relieved something helps atm!
Brilliant! starting to feel a bit easier about still using the cbd anyway, really helps me get a good nights sleep. feel im not waking up during the night as much after vaping it.
Yeah I actually love using the vape. I only use the one company though which is Orange County CBD based in London, they have a massive range of disposable vapes and liquids if you already have a vape. ive been using some of their cali range and it seems to help me just unwind and clear my thoughts! they have lab reports etc on each product aswell which is cool to see what % is in it!
Hi! I vape TCH medicinally and haven't had any reactions that I am aware of. I believe this is a decisive topic and answers will vary but, for me, I see many mental and physical benefits from THC and CBD. Vaping may not be the best option for delivery but I believe in this medicine's ability to heal. Be well xx
