I've been told that my thyroid isn’t functioning as it should.Hypothyroid.

My question is why is the outside part of my throat itchy and I have white blotches also on the outside part of the throat.I haven’t seen anything on the internet mentioning anything like this.

Are you taking any thyroid medication? And are you taking any other medications?

No,not yet,I have another blood test in April before my NP decides if I go on meds.

Yes,I’m on blood pressure medication and gout medication.I also have an overactive bladder

Is it allopurinol for your gout? And if so how long have you been taking it?

Asking simply to cross it off. As allopurinol can cause both itchiness and a rash (usually purplish though). This can occur in the first couple of months of taking it & is extremely serious. So putting it out there just in case.

Yes,it’s allopurinol.I have been taking it since 2020,close to four year now.

Little confusing .. I've been told that my thyroid isn’t functioning as it should.Hypothyroid based on what? That your throat is "itchy" and you have "white blotches"? Do you have any "specific symptoms" other than that? The test(s) in April will be ?? TSH/FT3/FT4/etc..? (what specific tests are you having run?)

Yes,my tests in April are to checkTHS/FT3/FT4 levels.What I don’t understand is that I have these white blotches on my skin exactly where the thyroid is situated.

White blotches? Do you have any pictures of this? Does it look like Vitiligo? Vitiligo is autoimmune. I developed Vitiligo around the same time I had thyroid issues.

I suggest having a look at DermNet - and the link below is a search on that site for "white blotch". But there are awful lot of possibilities!

I have a little vitiligo on my hands but it’s not too bad,I’m not sure if it shows on the picture I sent though ,could it be related to thyroid issues?
