Digestive issues
Before I was diagnosed hypo and started on levothyroxine, I had upper abdo cramps and ibs symptoms for years with a dignosis of CFS and IBS with constipation. I had excruciating upper abdo trapped wind that felt a lot like the pain I had when I had gallstones when I was in my 30’s and the stones were on the move!. I used to have to take wind eze tablets and then when I couldn’t get them I had to use rennie deflatine. I had little stashes of medication in all my coat pockets, bag, purse, car just in case the pain struck when I was out and about. The pain used to start slowly and then build, getting worse and worse before it started to ease and on occasion if I didn’t get the medication in time it would become excruciating and I’d be bent double with it. Since starting the levo in May last year I haven’t had to take any over the counter meds for cramps/pain/trapped wind at all so far (touch wood!).
Poor gut function, IBS and developing food intolerances all extremely common hypo symptoms
When hypothyroid we develop LOW stomach acid, this leads to poor nutrient absorption and low vitamin levels
ESSENTIAL to test Vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 too
Plus coeliac blood test
