Just had a ct scan with contrast. It sent my heart into a really erratic state for 1/2 hrs afterwards . Should I take my thyroid s as normal or wait 24 hrs for the stuff to clear out of my system? Any help please.

Ct scan with contrast
Whilst I can’t answer that, I had a similar experience after an angiogram but I was not diagnosed hypo at that time. I know the ‘contrast’ in mine was likely iodine and possibly created/contributed to thyroid problems further down the road. The stuff they do not tell you! It could fill a book.
I hope someone with knowledge will be along shortly to help.
The contrast medium was almost certainly iodine based. Your reaction is not uncommon, as your thyroid is very sensitive to iodine, and probably went into overdrive. It will fade. Drink lots and lots to help flush it out, and dont worry is your pee is a strange colour.
It can take several weeks to finally be clear of the contrast medium. In the meantime the medium results in a large increase in the body iodine stores. This can of course affect your thyroid and how you are feeling.
I think I would take a half dose for a couple of days and just go by how you are feeling after that. If you get a rash in a couple of day, let your GP know. I hope it all settles soon.
