If anyone has a recommendation for an endo at Southampton Hospital can you dm me please?

I have been on T3/levothyroxine combination for quite a while as I do not convert sufficiently on Levothyroxine alone.

I recently increased my levothyroxine by 25mg a day following my last blood results and feeling awful but my GP wants me to see an endo again to agree to that.

She referred me to another hospital who have said ‘they do not support use of T3 for hypothyroidism due to lack of clear evidence of benefit.’

Also I was rather upset at the endo’s comments on the private endo I saw years ago who prescribed levo when my GP refused.

‘I would also take issues with the Manchester Endocrinologist treating her on her symptoms rather than interpretation of results which seems rather illogical.’

I don’t know where they got that information from but I had private blood tests done and the private endo prescribed not only on the basis of those but also on symptoms including a massive goitre in my throat which was pressing on my airway.

I’m so fed up of the constant battle with this. I’m going to have more blood tests done in early Feb after the small increase but I do feel much better for it.

I’m going to run out of Levo soon if I don’t get the increase improved and I don’t want an endo who knows nothing about the thyroid like the last NHS one.

You can name a doctor when asking for feedback on the forum, but replies to Irene’s need to be via private message.

A list of thyroid -friendly endos (NHS and private):

With any recommendation that you get, it is advisable to complete further research yourself before making a decision.

It is a good idea to have thyroid blood tests (TSH, FT4 and FT3) alongside key vitamins (ferritin, folate, B12 and vit D) prior to your appointment. This allows you to discuss the results with the endo at the first meeting.

I would share your thyroid blood tests with forum members in a new post Ireness, as this post will be closed to replies (as we can’t discuss practitioners within posts).
