enlarged sore breasts

hi - rather embarrassing but here goes!

Approximately 2 weeks ago I had to increase levothyroxine to 100 mcgs- breasts are now enlarged and sore.

I can’t be pregnant- I happen to of had routine breast scan just prior to meds increase and no abnormalities detected.

Has anyone else experienced this side affect and can I hope it might settle down? Many thanks

Purplepuffin, If you can please post details of the thyroid test numbers that prompted your GP to increase your levothyroxine dose from 75mcg to 100mcg, it might help to shed some light on your symptom.

Also, what brand of levothyroxine are you now taking, and is it a different brand to the one you were previously taking?

Hi, I experienced this many years ago when I started liothyronine in addition to levothyroxine. The endocrinologist said that was one of the liothyronine side effects. I imagine, as lio and levo are two forms of the same thyroid hormone, levo increase may have caused breast soreness. Taking evening primrose oil helped me a lot. I'm not taking any more. It seems my body eventually got used to the hormone levels and not causing soreness anymore.
