Hello

I have been taking 75mcg of Levothyroxine (50mcg Accord and 25mcg of Mercury Pharma) for 7 weeks.

I had a blood test on Monday 18.12 following all the advised protocols.

My GP (8.45am) result is

TSH 1.01 (0.27 - 4.2)

Monitor My Health (7.30am) results from the same day are

TSH 1.19 (0.27 - 4.2)

FT4 17 (12 - 22) 50% through range, increased from 24% in October

FT3 4 (3.1 - 6.8) 24.32% through range, no change from October test

Previous MMH anaemia blood test from November are:

HB 133g/L

Ferritin 27ug/L

TSAT 18%

Active B12 47pmmol/L

Folate 20 ug/L

No ranges are given for these results, they are all low on the graphs except the folate.

I am taking Vit D & K2, B complex, magnesium and an iron supplement.

I have begun to feel more tired again and have noticed that my eyebrows seem to be thinning!

Would like any advice on what my next steps should be.

I really appreciate your help and guidance.

Hope everyone has a good Christmas 🎄

Hi there, your ft4 needs to be higher, so time for an increase in your levothyroxine. You're roughly aiming for a levo dose approx 1.6mcg per kg body weight. I'm sure others will comment on your other results

Hi Amtired,

Yes you are needing a dose increase. Are you spacing out your supplementing? Some things can counter others. Good to keep iron away from other supplements and levo, though it’s ok to take with vitamin C and this helps absorption. Your results for vitamins and minerals are a bit sorry and they need to be at least halfway in range for us hypos to feel better. Sometimes it takes time.

I’m preempting your Doctor trying to fit you to the blood test so I would say you need to be able to ‘argue’ your case. You need to use their guidelines to get leverage. Look at my pinned post (NHS and NICE guidelines the useful bits) and you will see I have identified the sections you can use to your advantage. ALSO tattybogle has made a brilliant one on TSH. But use their own guidelines as well- there is a reason there are contractions written in. 😉👍. Either someone knows the current treatment protocols are poop 💩 or they are trying to write in a few get out clauses for the authors of the guidelines in case of litigation later down the line 🤣. Yes I am very pessimistic when it comes to the motivations.

Not what you're looking for?
