Recent results:

My T4 is 14.3 (9.0 to 19.0)

T3 4.6 (2.4 to 6)

TSH 1.2 (0.4 to 4.9) A & E result few days prior was 2.2.

My symptoms lately have been palpitations but more of a feeling of slow heart rate (so feels more under-active). Also, heaviness in legs and flu like feelings

Palpitations have decreased since going up to 100 a day thyroxine from Saturday (100/75 previous dose). Heaviness continues and tiredness at the moment

Was I under active before increase as my T4 is always around 16 plus)? My T3 is higher than in October (3.9) T4 was 16.8 in October. TSH was 0.79. Same ranges as above.

When my T4 dropped last year following reduction it was around 13 and TSH 3.20. I increased T4 and heart palpitations and aching improved but then I became overactive with suppressed TSH. Reduced again and symptoms got better (more anxious feelings than fast heart rate. I feel I am going around in circles, although, I have recently had a steroid injection and strong antibiotics which may have caused under activity? Some weight gain also.

Has current brand of thyroxine caused this? (Accord). I am unsure

My vitamins were okay in October and recent vitamin D also.

I would be very grateful for advice.

Thank you

Hi Sailing

If you gather the results together that you are referring to in the body of this post (vitamins) and add them (use the edit function). People will be able to give more informed opinion. It is really useful to say how you felt at the time. Symptoms are more important than blood tests. Not saying they are unimportant, but without symptoms being taken into consideration they can be wildly misinterpreted. Hence so many examples of doctors badly managing their patient’s hypothyroidism on here.

Have you looked at the guidelines on dosing? It may be you are hovering back and forth under medicated if your doctors are dosing by TSH. TSH frequently disagrees with thyroid hormone levels.

Also in range (scraping along the bottom) is not enough for vitamins they need to be at optimal levels 😊👍

hi Sailing I’m not an expert but just want to suggest you like some others of us may have difficulty changing your T4 into T3 hence the high T4 and low T3 results you have. I’ve switched to trying an NDT which contains T3 and am really hoping this will help me after 22 years on levothyroxine and slowly feeling more and more exhausted etc wondering what it could be as GPS always said my levels were ok! What little do they know eh?!
