After my blood tests a few weeks back, the advice on here was to increase levo by 25 mg, I had some spare levo so did this, contacted my GP to say I wanted the increase in levo, over the last few weeks I have spoken to 3 diffrent GPs at my surgery and each have refused the increase.Last wednesday at 1 am I woke and the room was spinning, also high blood pressure, GP has said this is a ear issue crystals coming loose.

How do I go forward, most days I feel I'm going mad, can't think straight , feeling of low mood, is this to do with my thyroid, or losing all my family and partner in the last few years.

Can I buy levo privately?

Hi Dawney

Whilst grief can affect us badly, grief coupled with badly managed hypothyroidism is unbearable. Our emotional resilience is depleted and sadly people (doctors included) will seize on grief as an ‘explain all’.

Doctors generally attribute symptoms to grief because they are overwhelmed by their workload and just want a quick and easy solution to get the patient’off their desk’ and friends and family will attribute symptoms to grief because they simply don’t know any better and are only equipped to deal with feelings associated with grief (and then not always).

Feelings emerging from ill health are beyond most people (No disrespect to our families and friends). I speak from experience- diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder when I approached the doctor about my condition likely being due to hypothyroidism. I had lost my dad was losing my mum and everything was attributed to that……

Have a click on my face and read my bio. There are also some posts I have on self advocacy. You have to be able to do this in real time when you are talking to the doctors . Have a look at my post embrace the telecon 😉

Your doctors are ignorant but remain unchallenged. The minute we start with “I’ve been feeling awful ……” they simply turn off - they hear it but turn off. We have to be sufficiently on our toes to put them on there’s.

Learning a new subject is hard and takes time- there is a wealth of information in the previous replies to your posts, but so much information can overwhelm. Just do a little but at a time, but perhaps my bio (with as much plain speak in as I could manage) will help break the ice for you.

I might be able to afford a initial consultation, I have private acupuncture every fortnight, started that December 21 as not feeling right, couldn’t think straight, buzzing in ears, not long lost my sister put it down to grief but maybe it was my thyroid even then.I will look into endrocologist.

Would they prescribe more levo?

Thank you
