I have had my latest blood test resultsI have felt so unwell since lastcweek, having dizzy spells, high blood pressure.

Rang GP asked to see a thyroid specialist she said no as levels are in range, I adked why TSH had increased since last time she said hormones vary, I take the blood test at 9 am, no levo that morning and no B complex for a week before.

She needs glasses! When I was at school 3.9 was lower than 4. Didn't know things had changed that much!

Of course you feel ill with an FT3 that low! It's low T3 that causes symptoms.

Your FT4 is also too low, and if that is low, your FT3 is bound to be low too. You are under-medicated and your doctor hasn't a clue how to treat thyroid!

Mind you, there's no guarantee that an endo would know any better. A doctor that refuses to see you because your results are 'in-range', doesn't know much about anything. I'm afraid you're going to have to politely put your foot down and insist on an increase in dose.

I increased after the blood test before this one, I was on 100mg, my Gp wanted to put it down to 75 mg I said I wanted to increase it, I did increase it but without the gps consent I had some spare levo so increased by 12.5 mg a day

At that low level, not sure 12.5 is going to help much. And what is going to happen when the spare runs out? You really need a new doctor!

Thank you, I have took that amount this morning and will be vigilant about taking it every day for the next 6 - 8 weeks until my next blood test.

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking daily

Can see in previous posts you have been varying dose or missing doses…this won’t help

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after being on constant unchanging dose and brand of levothyroxine

When were vitamin levels last tested

If more than 6 months ago

Request GP test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

What vitamin supplements are you taking

All vitamins were tested on the blood test before this one, I changed from the thorne complex to igennus super B complex about 3 weeks ago as i was struggling with the thorne ones.

FT4: 14 pmol/l (Range 9 - 20)

Ft4 only 45.45% through range

FT3: 4.5 pmol/l (Range 2.4 - 6)

Ft3 58.33% through range

Were you taking T3 as well?

Well you have remarkably good conversion of Ft4 to Ft3

Just not on anywhere near high enough dose levothyroxine

Get dose increased by 25mcg

Did they check your electrolytes, magnesium and glucose?

Your GP can run the labs. With thyroid labs, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel along with iron, zinc, magnesium and selenium should also be tested. Never take supplements unless you are deficient. Try and get your nutrients from diet. The only supplements I take are potassium and zinc with copper. I would also ask for blood lab on celiac. Even if this comes out negative I would suggest eliminating gluten from your diet. We are all different, so what is good for one is not good for the other. I hope this helps.
