Morning, I've got a blood test for cortisol and prolactin, doc has suggested that it's done am.
Question is do I still take levothyroxine/vitamins as normal ?
Thanks

I've only ever had a serum cortisol test as part of a thyroid/vitamin bundle with Blue Horizon, and because it measures the thyroid hormones then obviously I do the test by 9am before anything to eat or drink other than water, and before I take my thyroid meds and vitamins. I've never done a serum cortisol test on it's own to know whether thyroid meds should be left off but to err on the side of caution I personally would take my Levo after the test.
Definitely leave off B Complex for a few days as that can affect results of any blood test. Take any other supplements after the test on the day.
I understand that a serum cortisol test is best done about 9am.
For a saliva cortisol test, because it collects samples throughout the day, you are instructed to take essential medication but to leave off any supplements whilst doing the test.
