Anyone using Taurine

The following claims have been made from what I can research:

Improves eyesight

Improves aerobic performance

Strong calming effect

Stabilises thyroid

Ie a very wide range of possible areas being addressed.

I take 1000 a day (500 had little effect) and I can claim early support for items 1 and 3 above.

I was in a restaurant last week and could actually read the menu without resorting to the mobile phone torch.

Alongside magnesium they seem the only 2 supplements that make a directly measurable effect for a hypo sufferer. Others like D, C and A I can take for insurance purposes but seem to have nothing of the same effect if I stop them from time to time.

taurine seems to get little to no mention here so thought I would add my thoughts (of course personal to me and no advice intended)

You should get vitamin A from food. Easy to go toxic on it

Nothing will make you feel better if you take it when you don't need it. Sounds as if you did need the taurine - and most people need magnesium. But, more isn't better. There are no magic pills. :)

This weekend Did my first proper half marathon road race since diagnosis a couple of years back with hypothyroid

Decent finish and zero foot /leg cramps that have been a feature of all

Longer races over the past decade

So utterly comfortable I am signing up for the Windermere marathon in May 2020 ....

I wrote on here about a year ago of the dream of actually getting back to road racing - and a side of me never thought that it would ever be possible

Just blown away that life has returned - I do see all these supplements as absolutely vital though ...

Looking back the major turning point was when I upped the dose of taurine to 1000 and the next day I got the running shoes on :)
