Hi all,
I’ve not been on as house renovation since October (due to finish next month) & I have more days dozing on the sofa than anything else, to the builders astonishment that I sleep through the noise!
I have been forgetting to take my Levo, not injecting my B12 & not eating great so all of that contributes!
This week I’ve managed to take my levo every day as it’s the first thing I see when I wake up with me trying to find ways to remember it! I’ve managed 1 B12 injection & am trying to think of ways to remember that every few days (so much easier when it’s sunny clothes weather, not freezing in the house & builders aren’t all over the house with only 1 door which is on the half done new bathroom)
Even being up to date with all my meds/vits I was still feeling rubbish 70% of the time & had given up going to the Dr’s as I wouldn’t take the hideous meds that Neurologist wanted me to take for my headaches - that she said said over sensitive nerves in my brain where the cause of my headaches, fatigue, aching body etc, but I got my daith pierced & have hardly had any headaches since & when I do they’re nowhere near as long lasting as they were. I was also told I had Lupus then told I didn’t by the rheumatologist (he’s who diagnosed PA) so I went for acupuncture for the other stuff & it definitely helped but I couldn't afford to keep it up.
Recently I was also diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, from a sleep study that was set up by a maxillo facial consultant who I was seeing for snoring (I’d had a deviated septum previously & that was corrected by surgery 2/3 years ago but I still snored). He said my small lower back set jaw was probably the cause of my snoring & arranged a sleep study as he needed at least a tiny bit of sleep apnea to fund a mandular splint for me that if it worked, jaw surgery would follow. I was convinced it would come back negative as I was sure I didn’t have sleep apnea. First study failed to record anything as the reader fell off overnight so a 2nd was set up with smaller equipment & that showed sleep apnea at 12 per hour during sleep.
The results of that escalated my needs to a CPAP machine so I was signed off by maxillo facial (but he told me I’ve got to fund jaw surgery myself as I got braces put on as there was a super good offer near me & I regretted never getting them as I should’ve as a teen, & maxillo guy said I must get my orthodontist to refer me to an orthognastic (so?) surgeon to carry out jaw & possible chin surgery half way through my brace treatment)...so I wish I hadn’t bloody bothered with the braces now but I will ask for another sleep study once that treatment is all complete. Maxillo Guy was saying originally he was sure it was my jaw but after results he said he thinks my sleep apnea is caused by the muscle around my thyroid being weak due to the hypothyroidism so when I sleep it collapses stopping me breathing. He thinks all my problems I’m left with with be resolved with the CPAP & I’ll be a whole new person if I stick with treatment.
I start my CPAP next week so I will update after a few weeks.
The maxillo Guy was very knowledgable on the thyroid & said he sees a lot of people with thyroid problems & most end up with sleep apnea so anyone else who still feels rubbish despite treatment please request a sleep study as I wish I’d known this years ago!!
