Should I ask for T3 trial ?

I posted these results the other day in order to ask whether it was worth pursuing a trial of T3 since the conversion from T4 to T3 doesn't look great (FT3 isn't even in the middle of the range) but didn't get a response re: medication specifically.

May 18

THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE 0.872 mIU/L 0.27 - 4.20

FREE THYROXINE 20.800 pmol/L 12.00 - 22.00

FREE T3 4.71 pmol/L 3.10 - 6.80

June 18

THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE 0.983mIU/L 0.27 - 4.20

FREE THYROXINE 20.500pmol/L 12.00 - 22.00

FREE T3 4.44pmol/L 3.10 - 6.80

I've already had great advice regarding inflammation and pursuing a gluten free diet but again I would like some advice about T3 specifically.

Many thanks in advance - this community is amazing.

I'd like to see what happens if you up your T4 by say 25-50mcg. Does the FT4 go up significantly, and does the FT3 also go up or does it stay as it is. If the latter then obviously your body is incapable of making any more T3 from any amount of T4, so that if you feel the need for change, a bit of T3 might be useful.

I've actually had the opposite happen, and FT3 has gone down as I've increased my Levo dose.

I was on 100mcg daily here back in Jan 17:

TSH 1.98 (0.27 - 4.20)

Free T4 20.53 (12 -22)

Free T3 5.46 (3.1 - 6.8)

Currently on 150mcg daily June 18:

TSH 0.983mIU/L 0.27 - 4.20

Free T4 20.500pmol/L 12.00 - 22.00

Free T3 4.44pmol/L 3.10 - 6.80

So whilst the levo has brought down my TSH (as you'd expect) there seems to be a conversion problem now (for whatever reason).

I did what Diogenes suggests - taking enough T4 to get FT4 (free thyroxin) results above range to see whether the FT3 got to at least halfway in range. It didn't so added T3, bought privately. Thought CCGs had largely stopped even endocrinologists giving new T3 prescriptions, - go DIY?

I have a really good GP who is at least willing to try a T3 trial I think. Reality may be that I have to get a private prescription from her so I can source it from a Euro pharmacy but we'll see.

Thanks for your account , gives me more confidence to pursue it .
