Londinium, thanks for your reply. Bit B12 is at 2000, so that's OK. Bit D is at 50, so that's OK also. I should have asked whether or not I should be on thyroid medication. Thanks again.

Your thyroid is stuggeling, but you are not yet hypo.

It would be advisable to get your Tg antibodies tested.

Your folate is too low. :)

TG antibodies <1 <OR=1 IU

I will start folate supplementation along with the B12 injections.

Thanks Greygoose.

You would do better to do as SlowDragon says, and take a B complex every day. Make sure you get one with at least 400 mcg methylfolate. :)

If you are in UK your vitamin D is measured in nmol and is too low

Folate is also low. Recommended to supplement a good vitamin B complex with folate in when getting regular B12 injections

Do you have Pernicious Anaemia or just low B12?

If you have Pernicious Anaemia then you are likely to have high thyroglobulin antibodies. Might be worth testing. Would need to do so privately

If you have low B12 then you may have low stomach acid

Yes, I have high Intrinsic Factor antibodies; Pernicious Anemia.

TG antibodies <1.

I realize that I must start Folate supplementation with the B12 injections.

Thank you SlowDragon.

I shall give you list of clinical symptoms and you can tick off the ones you have. At one time symptoms were the priority as there were no blood tests then.

In the UK the rules state that we should not be diagnosed until the TSH is 10+. In other countries we're diagnosed when TSH is around 3 with symptoms. Always get a blood test for thyroid hormones at the earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and if you were diagnosed you'd allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose of hormones and the test and take afterwards.

Get thyroid antibodies tested next time and if you have them, your doctor should prescribe but you might need to persuade doctor but we have a statement we can provide if needed by Dr Toft.

The TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) rises as gland struggles, and it is highest early a.m. and lowers throughout the day and may mean being diagnosed or not. Always get a print-out with the ranges for your own records and post if you have a query.

Ask GP to also test B12,Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. Deficiencies also cause symptoms.

p.s. I also have P.A. as did my mother. Mine was discovered years ago and never had any symptoms.
