Hi there ,

I am so sorry to keep asking questions please has anyone ever felt weak dopey and not with it taking Bruffen 800mg tab which I take twice in the day since Tuesday prescribed by my doctor. I saw consultant in casualty who told me I had Pleurisy last week then went to see my own doctor on Tuesday who told me no I have costorthitus which is so painful . The tabs have stopped the breathlessness and pain but the exhaustion is terrible and weakness . Please can anyone offer me some advice . I don't honestly think the GP should have went against the casualty consultants diagnosis .

Thanks in advance

Angela

It says on the internet that the active ingredients of Brufen is ibuprofen 400 or 600.

You could ask your doc if there is an alternative.

Hi Nanaedake thanks for your kind reply . The tabs are great for taking the chest pains away as they were horrendous I'm just not sure if it's the tabs making me feel weak or my sickness . I know they are making me v dopey and sleepy .

Thanks Angie .

did they listen to your chest to do a chest x ray in casualty?

Hi melville999 , thank you for your reply I appreciate it . Yes casualty were fantastic they did blood tests and took chest X-ray and consultant rang me the next day to confirm that I didn't have a clot and also to contact my endocrinologist about my b12 . I told my Doc to send results to my consultant but they wouldn't prescribe me b12 just Folate . The pain was so severe it started with a crushing feeling but thankfully the tabs have helped that tho not the dopey feeling or weakness . I'm so exhausted .

Thanks Angie .

go back to a gp.maybe not the unhelpful one.it would be worthwhile for you to be looked at by a doctor again.did they do an ECG?,if not ask gp for one.it doesn't sound like they have quite got to the bottom of it all yet so you have to 'rattle the cage' of the NHS to get it all a bit more sorted out.best of luck

Thanks Melville999, yes both casualty and my gp did an ECG and it was fine . It's just confusing how the consultant said Pleurisy and the GP a week later is now saying costorthitus. I just want to feel well again and get back to work :)

its confusing but the treatment for both these conditions is anti inflammatory meds but I would go back to doc.somethings not right it would be good someone had a look at you again.

Thanks melville999, I think I will wait until Tuesday give it a week and go back then though I know the gp's hate me hassling them as I went three years ago with vertigo and it was when I went to see private endocrinologist who gave me iron infusion increased my thyroid meds he is amazing but can't afford to see him all the time . Do u think it's Pleurisy or the costorthitus ! Thanks so much for all your advice I really appreciate it .

Thank you .

I couldn't make a diagnosis .im not in a position to comment.I dont mean that in any negative manner because you are trying very hard to get answers.if a medicine in theory is making you feel unwell you can cut it down or stop it or helpful local pharmacy can be a mine of good info.brufen is a non steroidal and can make you feel sick.all non steroidals can switch off your kidneys a bit and this could make you dopey, hence I recommended seeing gp.The GP may seem like they hate you hassling them.sometimes they are disenchanted with life and we think its out fault they don't seem pleased to see us.if your gp makes you feel like a burden then find a new doc.
