Ok so my GP has told me my results are normal. I've demanded a T3 test! I have no gland whatsoever I was born without one.

My results are

Serum TSH 1.53 mU/L (.27-4.20) "normal"

Serum 4 T4 24.9 pmol/L(11.0-25.0)

Serum globulin 18 g/L (19-47)

What do you make of these?

Most people on Levothyroxine will be comfortable with TSH 1.0 or lower. FT4 is at the top of range so it will be hard to persuade a doctor to increase dose although some people do need FT4 over range to feel well. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

FT3 isn't tested very often in primary care now. If your GP is unable to order FT3 you can order private thyroid tests from Blue Horizon and Genova via thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

So is my T4 too high?

What about TSH it's over 1.0 so what does that mean?

Your FT4 isn't too high as it's within range but if you feel over medicated it might be too high for you.

TSH between 1-2 is normal. Generally people on Levothyroxine feel better with TSH 1.0 or lower and FT4 in the upper range. TSH 1.5 may be fine for you as FT4 is at the top of range.

TSH and FT4 levels are a guide to response to dosing but how you feel is the most important thing. If you feel well your TSH and FT4 are perfect for you.

So could that mean my t4 isn't converting to t3 adequately? I have absolutely no gland and feeling very off

You probably also need vitamin D, B12, folate and ferritin levels checking. Many of us on synthetic replacement thyroxine have found we need good (often above average levels) of these for thyroxine to work well.
