Hi,

do you mean PTU instead of PHU? Are you being treated for hyperthyroidism?

If so I've pulled up this link from Medicinenet.com. See what you think:

medicinenet.com/propylthiou...

Hives is listed as one of the side effects amongst other things.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jo

Thanks for reply ur I meant PHU. It's a viscous drug the side effects i know about it's this rubbish feeing I've got. I don't know if I need a blood test to see what's going on with me. Maybe I need my drugs increased? I don't know. Mx

Hi Owleyes.

I wish I could help you more. I've googled PHU and nothing really comes up for it. I am so sorry. Hopefully someone else can jump in on here and help with your answer.

I take Levo for underactive thyroid but I did want to help you with your query as you've been waiting around for a bit bless you!

Good luck and I hope someone manages to help you out with it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I'm hyper & carbimazole also gave me hives, been on PTU twice in the last 6 years & still feel rubbish even through bloods are "normal". Do you have an autoimmune disease such as Graves causing you to be hyper? That's what I've got & it does make you feel crap. It's also worth asking your endo to test your adrenals, iron, vitamin D and B12 as deficiencies are common in people with thyroid problems & can also make you feel crap. x

I also am hyperactive but the prescribed Carbimazole works for me without too many nasty side effects. I'm sorry you are having problems having your medication sorted out and send hugs to you right now. Thyroid condition makes for a real roller coaster ride but I think it helps to remember that you are not on your own. Take care now. xxx
