Has anybody experienced anything similar to this?

I’ve been having digestive problems for over a year now and I am finally getting an endoscopy in 6-8 weeks time however I had another ‘attack’ last night and the wait seems like forever so I wondered if anybody had any ideas what this could be or what could help? To provide background, I’m mid 30s, healthy BMI, I’ve had an ultrasound and didn’t come back with anything and my bloods came back with mild hyperthyroidism. The pain is in the Epigastric region and spreads between my shoulder blades it is always there as a dull ache as soon as I wake up but I’ve had 3 ‘attacks’ in the last 4 months that have honestly been as painful as late contractions and the intensity of them coming and going does feel very similarly. It’s like somebody is twisting my upper stomach and the pain rapidly spreads to my back, I had it again last night for 2 hours and the pain makes me physically sick, I was sick 6 times last night from it. I don’t know what triggers is as I’ve cut foods out, been on anti acids etc and I am still getting this. If anybody has experienced anything similar or has any idea what this may be I would really appreciate any recommendations/advice had a good cry this morning as I’m just so lost with it all especially as I can’t find the cause to help prevent it.

Thank you

The only thing I can say is that I have suffered in the past with severe acid reflux issues in the past and I also had bad pain between shoulder blades and nausea (pain was extreme sometimes). Endoscopy showed inflammation in gullet so I was put on omeprazole and cut out foods that would increase stomach acid. My IBD team just acknowledge that I have had gastritis from time to time but I no longer take long term meds...

Pain between the shoulder blades is often associated with acid reflux / GERD.

Could it be Gallbladder related, but I have noticed you have had an ultrasound. Gallbladder will flare more after you have eaten a fatty meal. I had my Gallbladder removed 11yrs ago.Take care Pollyboo

Have you had your gallbladder checked? Because I had attacks of pain similar to yours (if I ate any foods with a moderate to high fat level) that my GP thought was gastritis as I had bad acid reflux as well. It turned out to be a badly inflamed and infected gallbladder and lots of gallstones.

hi, I have had a couple of similar attacks this year which were reflux related. Only relieved by vomiting. It also seems to set off my IBSD. I take omeprazole. I feel your pain but honestly see your GP don’t wait for the endoscopy . Mine started in my 30s ( now 68)and I managed it with only short term treatment.I agree about the pain and I can tell you that these last attacks were down to me and my reckless attitude to food.

Take Care it is ok to feel sad but it will get resolved . Sending some positive vibes to you.

Don’t be too hard on yourself

sounds like gallstones Go to the hospital when you next have an attack and you will be seen straight away

hi,

When I had symptoms like that it was gallstones & eventually I had my gallbladder out, but a scan told me everything was fine initially, it was only a year later when I saw another consultant & he asked me why I hadn’t had my gallbladder out (I told him because I had a letter from hospital telling me the scan showed it was ok), he said it wasn’t & I needed it removing. By this time I’d lost 1.5 stones in weight (wasn’t big to start with either). Good luck 🤞 hope you soon feel better

Hi!

I was just reading your post and although this may not be the case but could it be trapped gas, I remember after my c section I had excruciating pain in my shoulders, I thought I was going to die and it brought me to tears. The only thing that would ease it was peppermint tea from the midwives!! May be when you next get the pain give that a go 🤷🏼‍♀️
