some advice needed

Hi, have had a colonoscopy and CT scan of my pelvis last February. Nothing found but I do have diverticulosis. I know this is the minor one. Had no problems until now. Severe stomach ache and diarrhoea of sorts. More very loose than watery. Sorry for the info. The last week I have had difficulty passing a solid stool. My stomach feels tender. I know this is an IBS group but can anyone tell me if this happens with diverticulosis . Do not want to rush to the doc which is almost impossible anyway. I know they give antibiotics but that worries me when I have diarrhoea. Some of you suffer more than this I know but best place for advice. Thankyou everyone.

Good morning Alloagirl, I too have diverticulosis with the same symptoms. When I first was diagnosed I was prescribed Fybogel once a day and advised to keep a regular intake of natural fibre. This keeps me regular and prevents too much revisiting the loo! Purely by accident I discovered that live yogurt does some kind of miracle in my guts and restores my insides to calmness. I wondered if those Actimel drinks worked the same but for me they don’t. Then I came across Probio7 pills from Holland & Barret health food shop which seem to work well. I know each person is different so try things and see what works for you. Good luck on your journey!

Thank you for your reply. It is so helpful to know someone else experiences nearly the same problems. Also to have some suggestions is great. I have taken Actimel for years now I will try the yoghurts definitely.

Hi

In my opinion this can happen with diverticulus too. Calming and healing your gut naturally as it feels tender. Eat low FODMAP foods for healing. Everyone is different. Hope you feel better soon.
