Just feeling rubbish

Hello all.

I have had pretty much every test over the last three years, endoscopy, colonoscopy, CT MRI Nuclear test on the gallbladder and nothing significant shows up. 100s of blood tests and all say perfect, but still I have constipation at times, heart burn, stomach pain, gas, loose stools etc.

Is food really doing all of this to me....help

Have you had a Calprotectin test? Or a Bile Acid Malabsorption (BAM) test?

The main problem with IBS and IBD is they are so difficult to define and discover. By definition, they affect different people in numerous different ways. The best thing to start with is, increase your water intake two approximately 2 litres per day, and cut out carbonated drinks and all alcohol. Eat small quantities of food and often, rather than large quantities seldom, as this will reduce the amount of gas going into your stomach (especially if you chew your food really well and only eat small mouthfuls at a time). Try to go for a brisk walk for 15 minutes every day as this will help your food go through transit in your intestines. Cut out peanuts and Brussel sprouts from your diet and try to increase some pasta. There is so much more you can do, but this is probably the best starting point. Get well and stay safe.

Thanks for reply. I haven't had either of those tests. I have seen some real good gastro doctors, and dietitian, but my diet isn't great, I am a bit naughty, infact very at what I eat. Drinking plenty of water, looks like what I put in my mouth isn't doing me any good at all.

Sounds like you definitely need to sort your diet out try the FODMAP diet for a couple weeks see how you go also look up bacterial overgrowth in the gut. Find a functional medical practitioner they could arrange a test to see if you have SIBO it’s worth a try

I agree, my diet isn't as good as it could be, I have functional dyspepsia as well as IBS. All the specialist have said I need to diet and eat better.

I absolutely agree with FReedman. The water intake is important as is the exercise; build both of these into your daily routine and eat smaller amounts - I’m hopeful that you’ll notice a difference - it may not happen overnight, but give it a week or so. Good luck
