Pain after bowel movement

Im new to the forum. I started with pains in lower abdomen February, about an hour or two after eating a meal in the evening, every evening. Then a few weeks after that a stomach ache about half an hour after going to the loo, a bowel movement. The stomach cramps can last hours. I've had an ultrasound scan, ct scan, colonoscopy, blood test for celiac disease, nothing abnormal. Ive been referred to gastroenterology but could be next year when I hear. In Feb I was found to have an overactive thyroid but specialist said it's not linked to the pain. Gp printed fodmap diet for me which i started a week ago and will try for about four weeks. I dont seem to have typical symptoms of IBS, but it covers everything I believe if tests don't show up anything. It's odd and a pain that the pain continues after a bowel movement. That is my main symptom. Did read that maybe a low form of anti depressants can help with the pain, but gp didn't suggest that. Any advice? Thanks.

Hi, just read through your post again and see you have an overactive thyroid. I have read that overactive thyroid can give you IBS. I was looking for other reasons I could have IBS and one of things I come up with was overactive thryroid. It would appear that if you have an overactive thyroid you can get IBS(Diarrhoea) and if you have an underactive thyroid it can give you IBS (Consitipation). I think your specialist might be talking out of his arse!

Thanks for your reply. Interesting. I've never had IBS and I'm nearly sixty, diagnosed for overactive thyroid not underactive though. And I never get diarhoea. Thanks though
