Hi everyone. I suffer from IBS-D and I have had my gallbladder removed. At moment I am suffering from acid reflux. I have just taken two weeks of Lansoprazole and I really dont want to go back on them. Has anyone had any joy with digestive enzymes? If so which make? Many thanks.

Needing advice on digestive enzymes
If you do a google search you will find there are some natural digestive enzyme foods.
I started taking Lamberts digestive enzymes about six months after gall bladder removal (about six years ago) and found they helped. I have now taken them with nearly every single meal since and know about it if I have missed a meal - especially the main meal which I eat midday as have such a slow digestive process. I also find fresh pineapple every other week helpful - this contains bromelain.
I also took a lactase complex (again Lamberts) with meals containing dairy for a while but no longer seem to need these, which may be due in part to making and drinking my own milk kefir for at least six months. I also don’t eat a lot of dairy, and keep my meals to smaller portions with healthy snacks in between ( eg. a rice cake with corn and peanut butter. Or cheese or seeds oat cakes)
Hi. I could have written this myself! I suffer IBS-D but since taking probiotics, they seem to have changed the D element and regulated me too so highly recommend that. I use Alflorex but there are many and each suit or work differently for everyone. I’ve also had my gallbladder out. I’m currently suffering dreadful acid reflux but none of the PPIs seem to work. I saw my consultant last night and asked about digestive enzymes. He said don’t bother with getting an analysis but for some, using the digestive enzymes has worked so I’m researching myself. I’ll keep an eye on this post for help.
Sounds like your food isn’t digesting correct and you need more acid. Digestive enzymes are a good start but if it still continues to some degree, consider bile salts or hcl. Good luck.
I think everyone is a bit different so what works for me may not work for you. What I did is changed the food I eat, ate less and moved more specially after eating. To a large extent it seemed to resolve the problem.
