I'm glad you're okay. I was a bit worried as I guess you were. I think you ought to contact your doctor and tell him/her what is happening and see what he/she has to say about it.

My dr. Said same thing thought it was gall stones. Took tests no stones. Found out by accident checking to see if ulcer healed I had silent acid reflux which causes the pain. Also slow transit and constipation. Nothing helps me except PPI meds and I can’t tolerate them.

in reply toNanny23

Hi there doctor thought it was an acid problem with me gave me ppi never worked got sent for ultrasound and have got a big stone at lots of small ones very painful !! Pain always started after eAting x

What is silent acid reflux?

No PPIs, is there anything else u are taking which helps?

Nanny23 profile image
Nanny23 in reply toling

No heartburn. Just pain in upper abdomen and chest. Didn’t know it was reflux.

ling in reply toNanny23

Interesting. Never knew just pain qualifies as reflux. Which test diagnoses it?

Nanny23 profile image
Nanny23 in reply toling

My dr. Found it by doing an endoscopy.

Are you suffering from stress anywhere in your life? I had pain similar to this, rib pain coupled with immense pain around bottom of ribs, right in the centre. I had a gastroscopy and it came back completely clear. I had an episode of immense and agonising pain that was intermittent throughout the day while I was at work. I thought I may have ruptured something, the pain was that bad. It was all stress related, hence my question to you. I hated my job because I was put under too much pressure, I kept getting ill, migraines, stomach troubles, back pain. It took quite a few months after I left my job to recover from the stress. Please take some time to assess if an area of your life is causing you a lot of anxiety and/or stress. Our bodies express it in different ways. Be kind to yourself and take time for the things that make you happy and peaceful.

I'm glad that you have good stress management. Good luck with finding out what ails you. I hope it's something minor or it subsides on its own. 👍🏻

I get the same discovered it was trapped wind ,

Mine, I feel, is trapped wind too caused by slow transit constipation where the undigestied food ferments and causes this painful trapped wind.

I totally agree. How can we fix it lol. Docs don’t have a clue lol

This is one branch of medicine that has not been conquered. Doctors don't know the answers because not enough has been has been spent on research, which I understand is a very complex condition as it involves both the gut and brain.

Yes I agree. It is frustrating though. ❤️

I’ve had pain under my right breast all the way to back fo years. They diagnosed me with silent acid reflux. I never goes away. Have bloated stomach and gas. It never goes away

in reply toHam-Mod

Was your pain constant and did it last a few months and wake you at night. Kept saying mine is stress

in reply to

Many years ago they took two years to discover my pain was my gallbladder. Like you, pain on and off, sickness, diarrhoea the lot!

Most of the time it was intermittent. Stress can do awful things to the body and it takes a while to recover. I left my job end of February this year and only now do i feel free from the stress. It also affects us all in different ways so please keep that in mind. Having IBS we unduly worry a lot of the time and it makes us worse. I hope you improve soon. Good luck.

I get the squeeze along with the back pain. Like all of my muscles are becoming rigid and it hurts after a while.

I have a few things going on. I have a hiatal hernia and when it gets aggravated I feel this way. It can even give me palpitations.

I have hiatal hernia too. Maybe that is causing my pain.

Hi, yes I too experience what you describe. The only difference is I don’t get the pain in my arm. Mine radiates around my ribs into my back. I don’t get it often but when I do it is agony. I had a flare up on Thursday. Sweating, could barely breathe and wanted to be sick. I wonder if it is a gallbladder thing and so am speaking to the gp to see what they say. As I say I don’t get it often but the pain is so intense it stops me breathing in properly. After about 10-15 mins it passes and I feel fragile and tender for the next day. I read that people with ibs can be more prone to gallbladder issues. Take care and hope you get some answers. X
