Why worry. Would you not prefer to have an answer, then you can devote your time to what you have, not what you think you may have. You never know, it may come back clear and you have tormented yourself for nothing.

Says he who worries about his own health, I'm pretty good at it! I can wreck my life before being told I don't have anything serious.

I always find it better to know then I can do what I need to do to deal with it. Yes there are times I wish I didn't know but at least by knowing I can heed the warning and do something. Life is a bit calmer when I know regardless of the outcome.

As one Dr said to me, If we don't do the tests how can we diagnose and offer a solution? Too true.

Good luck.

There are simple & easy tests to diagnose IBS - these involve blood and stool sample tests:

nhs.uk/conditions/irritable...

Statistically far far far more people come back with an IBS result than anything else. These tests will include inflammation markers. The only people sent for a colonoscopy are those with elevated inflammation markers. Again most people won't need to go for a colonoscopy after these tests. Even if, at the outside chance that they do, you are really well supported throughout the procedure and it doesn't take too long. I have had 3 colonoscopies in my life time. Even if you have a colonoscopy, still, statistically far far far more people will come back with an IBS diagnosis than anything else. This is what happened to me - on all 3 occasions.

Believe me, the worry you are putting yourself through now, is going to be much worse than biting the bullet and getting on with these tests. Sometimes you have to take yourself to task and give yourself a good kick up the backside. I can say this since I have had to do this for myself many times. In the main the worrying is far worse than what actually happens. In the mean time whilst you are waiting for tests and test results, try to keep yourself busy and focused on what you have to do each day and try not to look ahead or be engaged in conversation about it.

If you get an IBS diagnosis, you can check back in here, since there is much that can be done to help your symptoms. You don't have to live like this. Good luck.

IBS is not cancer but a functional disorder diagnosed by eliminating anything more sinister. I believe their is no normal IBS as everyone is different. IBS is usually stimulated in some way by diet and lifestyle. Poor diets and stress being large factors. Don't google, go and see a real doctor about any concerns you have. Tests will need to be carried out to at least tell you what may be the cause of your issues
