MMA result
Hi allJust got medichecks result which shows high lMMA level: 34.8ug/l (less than 32) Previous medichecks active B12 was 48.1 pmol/l (37.5-150) (they advised MMA test) Intrinsic factor antibodies negative (mum had PA) Does high MMA result indicate a functional b12 deficiency as opposed to dietary deficiency

Range for B12d
Just wondering if I am misunderstanding the use of the the range for B12.My local health centre has a set range of 150 - 1000. 0. How does this work? If someone's level is, say, 155, is this believed to mean that this person is considered to be as well, in B12 terms, as another person who's B12 level

Urine versus Serum MMA test?
Hello everyone, Could anyone tell me if there is a reason either way to choose on of these tests over the other? I'm thinking of getting my daughter to do one after her 6 loading doses of B12. As a baseline for if she does or doesn't respond much, and for going forward from here. I'm guessing the

Meds Review.
Had a meds review yesterday with the very helpful Pharmacist attached to our GP surgery. I have spoken to him before when he switched me from lansaprozole to famotidine. He even asked me how I was getting on with that yesterday.Went through all my issues which may be linked to my meds: tiredness, fatigue

There is more B12 in the liver than in other organs Guessing a weight/volume measurement. Someone who wishes they had what it takes to be a scientist came up with that the liver is a magical storage bank of B12. Divided the amount of B12 by the minimum daily requirement and came up with a foolish mathematical

B12 and menopause?
Hiya! I’ve been advised to take vitamin b complex for menopause symptoms but is there any point if I have pernicious anaemia? Might be a silly question but if my body can’t absorb it (I have injections every 3 months) isn’t my body just getting rid of it every day? Some advice would be good!

Retest advice please
I am intending to arrange a follow up private blood test following a dose increase and change of Levo brand 6 weeks ago. I also changed from taking Levo in the morning to bedtime. The previous test I had was a Medicheck Advanced Thryoid finger prick test but I would welcome advice as to whether I should

Hi all hope you had a good Christmas. I need help in finding out what’s wrong with me as the doctors don’t know. I have been unintentionally losing weight for the past year. 4 stone+ now. (From clothes size 16-18 to size 8). All Thyroid results normal for me during that time. Until August when my

Hi I have been taking levothyroxine 50mcg since 2015 my dose has never changed as my GP always says my blood results are within range I have never felt really well on levothyroxine and also the tinnitus I experience seems to increase a while after I take it. A friend said to try taking it at night

Confounded by two different results for MMA test. One negative, one positive
About six weeks ago husband took a Medichecks MMA test. It was over range (positive) In a way I was relieved by this because it meant that now we knew what we were dealing with and what to do about it. However, GP was clueless and referred us on to a specialist in Cambridge, who five weeks after the
