Ventolin being stopped for asthma suffers
Happy New Year to everyone Whilst in hospital last week I heard rumors that
ventolin
was being stopped for asthma use as it is causing deaths. I am 68 years old and when at school some of my friends were asthmatic and used
ventolin
and still alive thank god.

I tried my
ventolin
inhaler 5-10 mins before I knew I was going to be doing stairs and I really did feel like it made a positive difference to me. 1. Am I ok to do this before if I know it helps, or do I wait til I become breathless on the stairs then take it?

Coping with breathlessness
The breathlessness usually resolves with
ventolin
, but when it’s bad I need several puffs and to sit quietly in a recovery position trying to calm my breathing, which all feels a bit dramatic. I get extremely tired as well.

Symbicort
Nurse has told me to stop
ventolin
and my preventer sereflo, and to use symbicort only. Said she loves it... 😂 hoping i have the same enthusiasm soon. Anyone find that it’s been a help?

Seretide Vs Aloflute
I’ve been taking seretide and
ventolin
inhalers as normal for the past 20 years, but the last time I went to pick up my preventer prescription it was Aloflute/generic.

Asthma symptoms whilst taking Fostair
I’ve been down to 2 puffs twice a day for a few days but I became breathless a couple of times and I’m wondering should I add in a puff of Fostair or use the
ventolin
when this happens?

Ventolin vs Symbicort
I’ve just been prescribed Symbicort instead of Clenil +
ventolin
. I understand the difference between the contents of the inhalers and when to use them. My question is about the reason for the different effect when using Symbicort as a reliever compared to
ventolin
.

Asthma control post covid - are my expectations unrealistic?
I am currently on fostair 2 X 200 am and pm, braltus, montelukast, cetirazine, dymista and
ventolin
. I've had 4 short courses of pred since April and am now on a one month reducing course.

A bit fed up
I’ve been struggling since the weather got cold - coughing in the cold air, waking at night with a tight chest, morning drop in peak flow and needing
ventolin
most days.

I take seretide 250 one puff twice a day, 1 montelukast tablet per night,
ventolin
as and when required and have had 5 courses of prednisolone in the past 12 months. Just trying to gauge where I stand! Many thanks.

Salbutamol/Ventolin use
I recently replied to a post about this subject but have been asked to convert it to a main post for you all:
Ventolin
/Salbutamol (Short-Acting Beta Agonists -SABA) use is really important for GP's to monitor in order to pick up those asthmatics that could be at risk of an asthma attack, this forms

Uncontrolled Asthma, repeated asthma attacks every day. Do I have bronchiectasis?
Ventolin
used to be helpful but I need at least three puffs to have any effect and often need more than six with spacer to control my many attacks. Unfortunately I am so susceptible to coughing that small inhalations of an inhaler result in coughing fits that exacerbate my asthma.

Detoxing off steroid inhaler... Fostair?! Anybody had experience of this?
Hi All, Does anyone have any experience of coming off steroid inhalers particularly fostair, it didn't agree with me at all, so had to come off it after taking doses for 2 days, but breathing has become quite difficult, which it wasn't when I went on it and I just used to take the blue

When do I... 🤔🤔
If you have needed 10 consecutive puffs of
ventolin
(and it has lasted over 4 hours) you should also see your GP as you may need steroids. If you are needing 2 puffs of
ventolin
and it is not lasting 4 hours then you need to see your GP urgently.
