Lung Volume Reduction using Pulmonary Valves. (Revisited)
Back in November 2012, I wrote an article "Lung Volume Reduction using Pulmonary Valves. My experiences as a patient." The content of that post is still relevant, and may help some of the new members. So I decided to re-post it; Here it is:- Lung Volume Reduction using Pulmonary Valves. My experiences

Hi everyone, Regulars here might remember that I posted some time ago seeking help for the gastric problems caused by my PA. Unfortunately I'm in the minority who can't take probiotics or lime juice (or digestive enzymes, the list goes on...) Things got worse recently and the discomfort and pain that

Asthma at primary school
I'm wondering if anyone has any efficient systems in place to help parents/carers know how often their child is using their reliever inhaler at school. My seven year old daughter's teacher okayed my suggestion that my daughter writes in her home/school diary whenever she uses her Ventolin. Needless

Chest problems
I am 75 and have been diagnosed with COPD in the early stages, although they use the word possibly,or possibly asthma. Qvar And Fluticasone Inhalers
Hi Folks My question is, if you use - or have used - a Qvar or Fluticasone Inhaler (of the type that only delivers the fine particle steroid but not a LABA component) how do you (did you) get on with it? Any observations on side effects or other issues with those devices? I'm currently using both Clenil

Coughing
I'm sorry, I seem to be posting lots just lately! So, for more than 4 weeks I've had this chest infection, numerous antibiotics and 2 lots of steroids haven't helped and now I've caught a head cold to go with it. Peak flow is around 65% and using ventolin every day. During the day my cough tends to

Mild Wheezing
Hi! Can you guys describe your wheezing sound? Can you clearly hear that it's coming from the chest? I've always been a cougher, and for the past year I've had a slight wheeze at night every once in a while. However, after the temperatures have dropped to below 10 C where I live, I've had the wheeze

Ventolin before preventer
I'm three weeks post severe asthma attack! Have had some of my meds changed and been told to use my salbutamol 20 mins before my two preventer inhalers and take everything through a spacer. I'm happy with this but when I spoke to another asthma sufferer she said 'oh I thought that was not considered

Hi all hope everyone is keeping well. Does anyone know if inhalers can just stop working? More prone to viruses, generally?
Hi! I had a bad winter/spring finally 4 days in hospital with an asthma attack mid June. It made professionals sit up and take notice! Before I was on the dreaded Clenil, and ventolin as and when, but then I ended up with Prednisolone for nearly three weeks, and since then symbicort 200/6 8 puffs per

Over the counter Ventolin
Does anyone know if you can still get Ventolin over the counter? I thought I had a backup inhaler but it seems I must have used it an not replaced it, and now I don't have a great deal left. I'm using it quite a lot so don't want to be left without any. So I wondered if I could go to asda or something
