Ground-breaking trial pilots new tests to detect lung cancer earlier. I posted about being invited for this a couple of weeks ago.
The first participants have taken part in a new research trial that aims to save lives by detecting lung cancer at an earlier stage when it is more treatable. People attending the NHS Targeted Lung Health Checks in Southampton are being invited to take part in the iDx Lung trial, which will offer new

Antibody Targets Mechanism That Enables Lung Cancer to Grow and Spread
An investigational antibody in clinical trials for lung cancer appears to disrupt a mechanism that tumor cells exploit to avoid being destroyed by the body’s innate immune system, researchers at Duke Health report. In a study appearing online June 16 in the journal PLOS ONE, the researchers describe

Clinical Trials in France for Prostate Cancer
I am interested to know if there are any clinical trials available in France for advanced Prostate Cancer. My husband has been on Abiraterone since December 2019, but his psa has been steadily rising over the past few months, with a quadrupling of the figures in the last 3 months. He is likely to start

Glycine and N-acetylcysteine (GlyNAC) supplementation?
Can anybody figure out this dosing please? OAs were provided capsules of glycine (1.33 mmol/kg/day) and cysteine (0.81 mmol/kg/day, provided as N-acetylcysteine [NAC]) . That second link is to a very positive study. Glutathione and Parkinson's disease: is this the elephant in the room? https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

Advice Pls! VATS vs. Open Thoracotomy (7cm 77 y.o.)? SoC vs. Clinical Trial?
My 77 y.o. father has been recently diagnosed with stage IIb (T3N0M0) with no visible mets to LN or brain. However, the tumor is large, nearly 7 cm. (We will hopefully receive tumor marker info by Monday but Drs. suspect he's EGFR+ given that he's a non-smoker, Asian and the "look" of the tumor w/CT.

Targeted therapy pralsetinib safely effectively treats lung and thyroid cancers with RET alterations
Results from the multi-cohort Phase I/II ARROW clinical trial, conducted by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center researchers, showed that a once-daily dose of pralsetinib, a highly selective RET inhibitor, was safe and effective in treating patients with advanced RET fusion-positive non-small

'Could All the Experts Be Wrong About Parkinson's?'
"There is already more than enough dopamine inside the cells. In some ways, using dopaminergic therapies is akin to whipping a tired horse; it helps for a few strides but doesn't affect long-term results." "Four laboratory studies report that blocking production of dopamine within these brain cells improves

First results of a head-to-head trial of acalabrutinib versus ibrutinib in previously treated chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Background: Increased selectivity of the Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor (BTKi) acalabrutinib (Aca) vs ibrutinib (Ib) may improve tolerability. We conducted an open-label, randomized, noninferiority, phase 3 trial to compare Aca vs Ib in patients (pts) with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Methods

Cancer 'power failure' stops the spread of tumor cells
Sirturo, targeted the fuel supply of cancer cells and blocked metastasis by nearly 85%. The drug had no effects on normal cells, thereby minimizing side-effects. It found that treatment with Sirturo caused a 'power failure," but only in cancer cells. Sirturo is already FDA-approved, with these findings

Newly approved drug effective against lung cancer caused by genetic mutation
The new drug sotorasib reduces tumor size and shows promise in improving survival among patients with lung tumors caused by a specific DNA mutation, according to results of a global phase 2 clinical trial. The drug is designed to shut down the effects of the mutation, which is found in about 13% of patients

Positive Effects of HIIT Exercise program on BCR progression of PC
From the ASCO2021 programs. Good randomized trial of supervised intensive exercise for 12 weeks improves risks for BCR progression. I suspect this may be related to the effects of exercise, and especially HIIT to activate epigenetic pathways for protection of the genome and reducing mutations, a driver
