Toe Problems - PMR or Steroids??
As I have dropped down my steroids (now on 10mg for the last 6 months) have had various foot issues from athletes foot to an impressively large wart (now gone) on the little toe, eruptions of eczema on the side of the foot or possibly psoriasis, dealt with by topical creams. My last visitant has

Tapering after surgery
Hi I have been on prednisolone since 2015 when I was on 60mg and also methotrexate and it has taken me till now to reduce to 3mg a day. On the 14th March I had a hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair. I was told to stop methotrexate for a while before surgery because it increases the risk of infection

Muscle fatigue post prednisolone
Hi everyone, it took me 2 years to get off prednisolone for PMR and it has been 10 months since I last took any. I try to keep fit by working out at home, dog walking and swimming. However during lockdown I walked 3-4 miles a day (while taking prednisolone) which was really enjoyable. Now if I walk any

tezepelumab approved
Hi just to let everyone know. A new biologic has been approved by NICE today. And the qualification is severe asthma with more than 3 exacerbations needing oral steroids per year. This such good news. I suspect it will only be available in tertiary clinics to begin with. But is good for lots of

methotraxate for polymialgia
I saw a Spanish rheumatologist today and on the basis that I have been on steroids for four and a half years, currently at 13.5 mgs deflazacort (pred equivalent about 9 or 10 mgs), she suggested I take Methotraxate once a week 10 mgs injected, so that I can reduce the steroid dose. it seems like a big

Adventures in decreasing prednisone
I have been decreasing pred using very slow method for about 6 months, after being on pred for 6&1/2 years at approximately 15 mg daily. Everything was going wonderfully. First time ever I had been able to reach 7 & 1/2 mg daily. Other than being a little more tired I felt good. Then one morning I

Cataract Surgery: NHS referral for fast treatment

update on Steroid Injection.
Just an update on my last post. As I mentioned I had the X-ray and scan done privately as there is a long wait for scans on NHS. They were both done and the results were sent straight through to the GP. I had Hoped to get the steroid injection within a couple of days again privately. I telephoned the

Medications that reduce an overactive bladder
Since I've been on prednisolone my trips to the loo during the night have increased tremendously. I'm not sure if this is due to waking frequently and my body thinking that it's time for the morning loo trip but it seems that whenever I lie down for any period of time it starts up, even if I lie on

Exercise
Having just started on steroids 2 weeks ago, I have been wondering about exercise in helping recovery. Any recommendations on how much to do?What type of exercise has helped you? Do you have a daily routine?

Hello everyone. GCA relapse
I am currently having a bad GCA relapse and have put my steroids up from 3.5 to 7.5 mg. What always surprises me is that if I have a hot bath, one where I am fully immersed, I miraculously get so much better straight away. - an effect which often lasts until the morning. Does anyone else get the same

GCA and respiratory issues?
Hi everyone. I updated my profile to include my most recent flare/infection, but wanted to briefly share that info. with others who may experience respiratory issues with GCA. I had another bad "flare" that began on Feb. 4th at the end of a two week cruise. Again started with a sore throat, then respiratory

Hello Everybody, I had a DEXA scan in 2020, as far as I can see the only worrying result was the neck of femur -2.7. I have just had another DEXA scan on a different machine, and the same result was -2.9. To me, that is not a great difference, having been on steroids for 2 1/2 years. I now have been
