What I learned about steroids and blood sugar levels from wearing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on the ZOE program
I’ve just finished using a CGM for 2 weeks as a paying participant in the ZOE study, which I mentioned in a previous post: https://healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk/posts/149526653/ive-signed-up-for-tim-spectors-zoe-study-looking-at-blood-sugars-and-gut-health Many PMR and GCA patients, self-included, have

Lymphedema & Knee bursitis
I have Inflammatory arthritis, Sjogren's and OA. I have been on Methotrexate and Imraldi since 2017, before that I was on Benepali. I have had a new hip in 2017 and I also suffered with my knees which despite many steroid injections they are no longer having any effect. I saw my rheumatologist

Is this a lupus rash?
Does anyone think that this is a lupus rash. It keeps flaring up. This year I’ve had 2 courses of steroids. I am also on hydroxychloroquine which I’ve been on for 10 years now. In June I started on methotrexate. I have a phone call tomorrow with the rheumatologist nurse. Is it worth asking to see

Hip Replacement while on treatment??
My husband, who is in a Clinical Trial at MDA for Richter's, needs a hip replacement badly - such that his severe arthritis is a bigger deal to his quality of life than the Richter's. He saw an orthopedic pain management specialist last week who had nothing to offer, stating that a steroid injection

How can I lower my thyroid antibodies
Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me. I’ve had recurrent miscarriages and it has been suggested this is because of high thyroid antibodies - mine are 255, my TSH is 1.6. I have had one successful pregnancy but was on steroids and a small dose of Levothyroxine. Does anyone know if there are

After 15 months on Pred. I managed to wean myself off them. I always had aches and tiredness, but as it was not unbearable and I rested a lot I thought this was better than remaining on steroids. I stopped the steroids beginning of April ‘23. I still feeel tired all the time, and I am slow and

Advice please! re inhalers, steroids, personality, voice... and breathing balance.
Any advice? I have been diagnosed with asthma. I also have past sinus polyps and take pantoprazole for stomach acid. I feel like I have inflammation from my ears to my insides. I get quite wheezy but mostly in throat and upper chest - sometimes sounds like I have a little bird cheeping in my throat

First RH appointment tomorrow
I am absolutely beside myself at the moment. After being seriously unwell for 3 months, especially the last week or 2 being so unwell I wonder how cancer could feel worse... I have a positive ANA & DSDNA. I have booked privately to see a rheumatologist because I cannot wait on the NHS as my life has

Stopped Methotrexate being screened for Adalimumab
So after being on Methotrexate (injections) for 2 years since diagnosis and feeling dreadful on it (swollen fingers, nausea, constant headaches, depression) I last injected on 18th December 2023. Needless to say my RA is raging in every joint now! Just had a steroid injection and being screened for

Leg Pain pt 3
Writing again because one of you lovely people suggested I saw my MRI results for myself. She was right, my doctor said it was wear and tear in the back. Keep taking the painkillers and walk. But I did see the results and it is Grade 1 degenerative spondylolisthesis. He did not suggest physio. But

Does RA exist in the hips?
I've had fibromyalgia for around 20 years so am familiar with the symptoms. RA was diagnosed 4 years ago and I am now on Sarilumab jabs. I had a terrible flare around 4 weeks ago and couldn't get through to Rheumatology by any means. The pain in my hips was like fire and I had no real sleep for 2
