UPDATE How to gradually reduce dosage of desiccated thyroid (armour)?
A couple of weeks ago I posted asking about how would you go about reducing medication for genetic hypothyroidism. I was on 6 grains of Armour Thyroid which concerts roughly to 54mcg of t3 and 228mcg of T4. On this dosage I get in the higher quarter/ third of range for t3 and despite my average heart

So I decided to see a private Endocrinologist. what he told me shocked me to the core and now I am so confused I don’t know what to do. He

Hello everyone, I'm new on here. So glad to have found this site! I've posted before for a friend but now I'm looking for some help with my own thyroid medication. I've had hashimotos for 34 years (since I was 20yrs old) and been on levothyroxine for most of that time. Mostly I've been ok-ish. Just

Am I over medicated?
My Free T4 always comes up low. I understand from this grp that this means I am over medicated. I do not feel over medicated, but am I doing myself long term damage? I currently take 45mgs of NDT & an extra 12.5mcgs of T3. (In one dose) each day. (& supplements) Thanks in advance.

The results are in, over to the judges.
I am a 59 year old, 74Kg male, with no other comorbidities except mild lifelong well controlled Asthma. The tests on 10/01/2024 where all taken using the guidance given here, of no levy for 24 hours prior and no food/drink ETC before the test. The previous tests may not have been in full compliance

Small dose of levothyroxine - good or bad?
I had thyroiditis many years ago. Since then, my dose of levothyroxine (and for a while NDT) has varied. However, it has never been a high dose (I don't have any record of it going over 100mcg/day), it has been as low as 25mcg/day, but settled at just 37.5mcg/day (driven by me, based on combination of

How does synthetic t4 convert to the active t3 after a thyroidectomy?
Is it the same place & way if one still has their thyroid? Ie. When you all note that hormones given replace the thyroid, not top it up if the thyroid is still in place, does it then not matter if one has a thyroid for this mechanism? (Not discussing taking anyone's thyroid without obvious dire need

GP not doing regular thyroid bloods.
How often should gp do thyroid bloods please? My main thyroid problem is fatigue, it’s not there all the time, comes and goes. So, I would like them done every 8 weeks, as I try different combos of Levo, T3 and Thyroid S, till I feel better. However, mine doesn’t do anything at all until I chase her

Daughter thyroid results
HiI am new here with a question for my daughter (19). She is really struggling with fatigue so much so she is home from Uni. Also feels sick, headaches, really cold hands and feet and very pale. She had low ferritin last year and was put on iron tablets for 3 months. She went for a private blood test

Blood test result - Hashimotos
Hi all, I have recently had a scan of my thyroid and it’s confirmed my diagnosis of Hashimotos. When I spoke to my doctor about this I explained I was struggling massively with my weight, coldness and tiredness. Because of this he requested a blood test which all seems ok apart from my Thyroid peroxidase
