Recovering after a total thyroidectomy
I had my operation 7 weeks ago. Operation went well and was in hospital only a few day. I was in quite a bit of pain following surgery and now I am quite surprised that I still am getting discomfort around neck/wound area. Consultant said it could take months but wondering if others experience this?

Thyroidectomy and NDT - Does TRH/TSH feedback mechanism still apply with no thyroid?
Hi all, Can anyone explain the following to me in layman's terms. My partner is on NDT and our approach as per STTM approach is to increase by half a grain every two weeks if he is feeling hypothyroid symptoms return. Once we hit the range 2 to 3 grains to increase more slowly, maybe 0.25 grain every

Anxiety after TT
I had a Total
thyroidectomy
in August 2013 after being diagnosed with Graves' disease shortly after giving birth to my son (think I've had an overactive thyroid for years).

Hi, I'm 3 days post hemi thyroidectomy. Did anyone have 3f nodules...
Hi there, I had my op three days ago and it went well. My right thyroid was removed and I was told that I will have apt with endo in two weeks for results. I have a few nodules which are 3f which means intermediate risk and follicular. So I'm quite nervous and wondering if anyone has/ had these and can

Doses for Thyroidectomy People
Hi I just wondered what kind of doses people with a TT are taking? I know there are many factors that affect dosages but I would be very interested to know how it ranges. Thanks :)

An Alternative to Thyroidectomy & RAI
For anyone that has been recommended a Partial or Total
Thyroidectomy
for nodules on their thyroid or RAI PLEASE ask your endocrinologist about Laser Ablation. This is a low cost and minimally invasive procedure carried out in Italy and a couple of places in France.

Partial thyroidectomy on Tuesday would love some advice and tips please...?
Hi there! Well it seems like I have been waiting forever for this op and it's nearly here. I can't lie, I'm quite nervous and trying my best to stay positive and keep calm. My biopsy showed 3 in diagnosis so it was recommended to remove the right side where the nodules are etc. My main concern is that

Help Us Raise Awareness
So at the age of 24 I'd decided enough was enough, and opted for a
thyroidectomy
. I knew that this would result in hypothyroidism. However, it was the right choice, as I had developed Graves’ disease. The side-affects weren't as aggressive, and I always struggled medication wise.

Hypothyroidism and foods to avoid
I suffered from Hyperthyroidism in my mid thirties, had partial
thyroidectomy
and thereafter Radio-active Iodine as I was forming a Goitre again again and still Hyperthyroid. After the Iodine I went from Hyper to Hypothyroid after several years.

Iodine after Total Thyroidectomy
Hi I had a TT in 2011 but a scan last August reveal 2 bits of thyroid tissue around important nerves which the Endo said was consistent with the operation. How would this affect my iodine intake, or my medication for that matter? Your advice is very much appreciated. Nadine
