Is it possible at all to lose any weight while on
steroids
I’m currently tapering from 50 mg I’m now at 6 mg ! My skin is an absolute mess patchy rashes all over my body which is itchy. I’m sticking with this as I’ve been up and down the doses I’m now focusing on reducing but I’m suffering !

How long for Clenil to work?
The
steroids
are rather good :-) but I am still using the rescue inhaler every 4-6 hours at the moment.

My asthma has now got out of control with many exacerbations, resulting in oral
steroids
around 30 times over 8yr period with long term side effects, but that's another story.

Due to start progesterone suppositories tomorrow and also
steroids
. My clinic don’t believe nor do they offer the ERA test. But my consultant is no wanting to leave any stone unturned so I’m started prednisolone and will start clexane injections post transfer.

Slow, slow, quick quick slow -to taper or not?
Her plan was to start me on a reduction of
steroids
. I am on 10mg. Last Autumn I'd dropped to 7mg however it didn't go well. I will suggest this is not the time to taper. I have taken on more of the running of the household as Mark is hobbling.

Back for another go
Ive had a break as my health has been poor but I've been told I need to go back onto
steroids
and at my current weight, that will be disastrous. Last time I stuck pretty rigidly to around 800 calories a day and managed to keep my weight gain to 2 stone.

Pressure in rectum
For the most part I have been ok, with a few bad flares over the years treated with
steroids
. Lately I have been flaring more, bloods always fine, never any blood in my stools, but always have mucus and low left sided pain. Last 2 calprotectin tests have been elevated in the 800s.

immuno stopped due to inflammation
12 a day ( prednisone) and antibiotics …I’m absolutely terrified of taking the
steroids
they get such bad press and I’ve heard horror stories … can anyone allay my fears about them please ?

Update #7: Adrenals & Insulin
Steroids
are known for increasing blood glucose - it is a large part of the role of cortisol - but I would obviously need to avoid it going too high. I hope my insulin sensitivity will normalise once my thyroid medications are optimised.

Correct level of Pred?
Seems he wants me off
steroids
asap. GP feels 1mg per month slowly from 10mg is way forward. Having read everything I can, I can see that is the approach and what I’ll be working towards. However, I don’t know if I’m ready to work towards 9mg.

PMR without steroids?
Hubby (55) was just diagnosed with PMR that we suspect he's had for about two years. He'd like to try and work through it without taking prednisone since every post we read is about people trying to get off of it. Do you think it's possible to manage the pain with other means and methods long enough

Glaucoma eye drops and migraines
The optician said that the
steroids
could be contributing to the increase in pressure. I am highly sensitive to most medications but manage to take a very low preventative dose of propranolol as a migraine reducer which helps a little.

Update #5: Back to front
The chaotic mental state I find myself in (is it the
steroids
? Is it increased uptake? Is it the dropping of NDT? Should I drop my NDT more? Should I add some T3? Should I decrease the
steroids
? Will I get stuck on
steroids
now forever? Should I follow STTM? Should I stop
steroids
before 1pm?)

MTX/Sulphasalazine, heart burn and weird sensory side effects.
In December I was given a course of
steroids
and came off naproxen/lansoprazole. I had acid reflux and assumed it was in part due to eating too much Christmas chocolate. Once I came off the
steroids
I went back on Naproxen with lansoprazole of course the acid reflux stopped.

I don't know if anyone remembers me but........
He is starting me on a 6 week trial of
steroids
to see if that makes a difference to my symptoms and if it does, he will then treat me as having addisons / AI. He says he has a number of patients with very similar symptoms and test results to mine who have felt much better on

Asthma Flare Viral Infection Prednisolone
I’ve never taken oral
steroids
before so not sure if this is an unusual occurrence for them not to work after 5 days or could something else be going on here? I will obviously be returning to my GP but just wondering if others have had a similar experience?

Two Questions
I have always been slim and have never put on any extra weight since being on
steroids
. I love my chocoate too but try to eat this in moderation! I have read a lot on this website about not eating sugar when you have PMR.

spring Covid vaccine
I see in the news that the spring covid vaccine is available for those on
steroids
. I’m currently on 13mg of pred having started on 15mg in February. Is it likely that I will be asked to get the vaccine or do I request it? Or, should I have it all?
