cataracts b.c. of long-term steroids
Does anyone know what the symptoms of cataracts developing are, after long-term use of inhaled
steroids
and/or prednisolone? I've heard cataracts are common symptoms, and I wonder how one knows one is developing them.

How cortisone/pred works - a new study reports on a potential target to replace steroids
I thought you'd be interested in this article about a study from Germany which has worked out how pred works - and knowing that is the basis for developing other drugs to replace it. https://www.news-medical.net/news/20240410/Study-unlocks-how-cortisone-activates-the-bodye28099s-natural-e2809cbrakese2809d-on-inflammation.aspx

MRI to Check things out
I definitely need another course of
steroids
or something more suitable long term as my mobility is getting worse, I can hardly stand or walk on bad days at the minute. I'm really hoping it's nothing sinister or MS but something is definitely off.

PMR/ Hypothroidism
I had PMR and was totally let down by doctors at surgery, I managed to wean slowly off
steroids
myself, after 2 years and I’ve been medication free for 8 months!!! However, I wanted to have inflammatory markers checked, had discomfort in shoulder my markers were the best they’ve ever been!

urinary urgency after SBRT
His radiologist had him to take
steroids
for 5 days, but no improvement. His urologist told him to double his alfuzison. He started that a couple days ago and no improvement. His ruination is better during the day. Is this a normal side effect? Will it go away? What did you do to treat it?

Asthma & heart rate
Having just had the second course of
steroids
in 2 months, it would seem that this exacerbation had also affected my heart, leading to an irregular heartbeat. I seem to recall a similar thing happening to me about 5 years ago, when I had a chest infection but it sorted itself out once I was better.

I have read it daily and been helped from the experiences of others particularly in terms of reducing the amount of
steroids
. I am now down to 2.5mg (after 2.5 years!) However, without the encouragement and advice from this site I would have been floundering. Good luck with your presentation.

Alternatives to steroids for PMR
But what I really wanted to ask is if anyone has any experience / views on alternatives to
steroids
. Since I'm waiting so long to get a referral to a rheumatolgist, I'm thinking I might as well try some alternative stuff in the meantime.

Steroids _ I hate them!
My Consultant was going through my drugs once and he said you have been on
steroids
for a long time and then said Oh you might as well stay on them. Has anyone on long term
steroids
been able to come off this drug and how long did it take you?

Severe Eosinophilic Asthma
My husband has been very incapacitated by this since March 2020 which came on suddenly and has not improved since then despite continuous
steroids
, inhalers and trying the latest injections. He’s had to pack up his business and still cannot walk 10 yards without breathlessness .

Wasting—losing muscle mass
I am tapering
steroids
(arms and legs good and bruised). But I understand
steroids
can cause wasting. Any thoughts on what causes wasting and what to do about it? I lift weights 2-3 x a week. Thank you, friends.

Biologics
They’re saying the high doses of inhaled
steroids
are the cause of my infections, but I’m colonised with pseudomonas and have nebulised antibiotics to keep under control.
