Zoladex and HRT
I have high cholesterol which I'm on
statins
for and the more I read the more I think this is a hormonal thing too. I'd love to hear from anyone who has taken Zoladex and been on HRT. How did you get on? Would you recommend it? Thanks so much- this group has been a life saver this week!

Another Statin meta-analysis.
The pooled estimates showed that exposure to hydrophilic
statins
was not associated with the incidence of PCA .., while the incidence of PCA was significantly decreased in populations exposed to lipophilic
statins
compared with the nonexposed group .., mainly in Western countries ...

Inflammation much greater risk than cholesterol
Statins
work because they reduce inflammation, not because they reduce cholesterol. I believe this also applies to AF. There is a drug which does reduce inflammation: colchicine, which is used in the treatment of gout.

Update to private cardiology consultation.
He also reviewed my cholesterol figures and said I didn’t need
statins
. (Also said it should have been a fasting blood test to give a true result) . Was excellent he could see previous blood test results not just my latest, on the computer. Not concerned with my blood pressure.

Alternative to Statins?
Hi All, Just seen the attached article in a magazine & thought some of you might be interested seeing as there's been one or two posts mentioning cholesterol and
statins
. I'll leave you to do your own medical research on it. Regards

Worried that my heart health is in a downward phase
I stopped taking my
statins
in May. I get breathless after even very moderate exertion and do sense a slight “heaviness” in the chest when this occurs.

Also, do
statins
interact with Levothyroxine, causing you to require a lower dose, and/or does aging and lifestyle cause you to require a lower dose? I retired from nursing a couple of years ago so I'm much less active than I was. Would be interested to know if anyone has any advice for me.

Statins and blood pressure meds
The thyroid group are very anti
statins
believing that if the thyroxine dose is correct cholesterol will automatically lower. Doctor sending me for a heart scan at some time but insistent I take the meds. Does anyone else have experience of this situation?

Diltiazem side effects
It is true that I have IBS and I cannot use the
statins
and I am allergic to some medication, but I don't believe it's esophagus spasm, because I had endoscopy and they didn't find anything.

I have had
statins
prescribed the last two years or so and have never been keen to take them considering the advice on this forum. Doctor insistent that I start them again along with blood pressure tablets. Blood tested again a few days ago and everything has come back with range .

Because there is no heart disease in the family and my parents lived long healthy lives I decided years ago not to take
statins
and so did they . Still , I am very surprised at this high number !
