Sotalol side effects
Following my ablation I am rather hoping I can stop taking Sotalol at some point in the near future.I have been thinking (my annual review is coming up and I will be asked various questions about meds etc), does anyone here experience body aches and pains or GI issues when taking sotalol. My body aches

Serious shortage of some medicines.
There is an article in today’s Guardian which refers to a serious shortage of some medicines: “Medicine shortages in England ‘beyond critical’, pharmacists warn.” No heart medications are mentioned in the article, but I wondered if anyone had experienced problems obtaining any of their regular heart

Cardiac issues
Hi CD, Following on from your comments re MSK specialist and my reply. Since Sept/Oct 2023 my BP has progressively worsened while HR is beautifully spot on. BP is gradually trending up to around the 166/80 whereas in October and earlier it was a comfortable 132/70 with a beautiful steady HR. Whilst

Well, those 6 weeks (on Tuesday) have flown and the heart continues to behave 🤞😊Still getting a feeling of trapped wind when I swallow especially when I lie down at night. My GP thinks this may be the esomoprazole as it's notorious for causing gas. I also have a bit of a sore tongue of all things,

Experience with Disopyramid please.
My AF has returned at about 3 bouts a month. My EP has suggested a change from Sotalol to Disopyramid. Any experience or comments about Disopyramid would be helpful.

Sotalol causing Insomnia
I am taking 80 mg of Sotalol twice daily since 2022, and I have been experiencing insomnia. Typically, I would wake up after 2 or 3 hours of sleep, and not able fall asleep. Of late, I have not been able to fall asleep at all. Have any of you had a similar experience?

Dronedarone - thoughts ?
I wondered if anyone could share their experience with dronedarone please ? I'm 4 years into my AF journey and as well as 2 unsuccessful ablations I've tried all of the first line AAD's including sotalol, propafenone and flecainide. Unfortunately the beast just won't go away and the burden is getting

fear and loathing afib
so glad to have found this forum. I have had persistent afib for at least 10 years which has contributed to a couple of strokes, a multitude of TIA’s, heart attacks and an anxiety disorder which destroyed my mental health. In the last year I have had a pace maker installed. To treat my afib I had

Brain Fog
Do Beta Blockers have side effect of brain fog? I have been taking Sotalol and I seriously feel like I have dementia. I am 48 and have been forgetting bizarre things and it is kind of a big deal because I am a nurse in an ER!!! Is that a side effect? Eek!! I just seriously suddenly cannot remember

low heart rates
Good morning all My cardiologist changed my medication last week as still having regular high heart rate. He’s put me on 40mg Sotalol twice a day and going to be doubling it next week. My problem is I’ve been having a low heart rate of 41/43 every night on and off during the night and I’m exhausted

Looking for feedback regarding Asymptomatic Afib
I'm fairly new to this forum and I already feel at home. It's very refreshing to find an online community whose members are so kind, understanding and generous. By way of introduction, I'm a 69-year-old male living in Connecticut. My Afib history is as follows: Diagnosed with Afib by PCP - 8/9/

Exercise Motivation
Hi, I have been free of AF for the last 3 years after my second ablation and during that time I was able to exercise and felt energised and motivated. I lost weight, was going to the gym 3-4 times per week score and felt well. I still took Apixaban during this time. However my persistent AF returned

Here we go, pre op assessment concerns
Hi all, you may have guessed by now that I suffer from health anxiety, hardly surprising with what's going on in my family and my forthcoming ablation next Tuesday.Attended pre op assessment at Glenfield hospital, staff were very considerate and efficient. I was given a package of 'stuff' to wash in,

Sotalol side effects
Does anyone here on Sotalol have long term side effects.I have been on 40mg x 3 daily for the last 3 years. I never thought of this before until a friend told me she couldn't tolerate it and was changed to flecainide. I always loved my sleep but over the last few years I have not felt 'relaxed and tired

AF versus SVT
On my first incident of very high pulse rate 8 years ago I was diagnosed with AF and perscribed Metaprolol. One year later I had another episode of high pulse rate and was diagnosed with SVT and perscribed Sotalol. No major episodes since then. Can anyone explain the difference between AF and SVT?
