anyone experienced nausea whilst taking NAC (N-ACETYL CYSYEINE)
I have been becoming increasingly nauseous over the last 3 weeks. I started taking 500mg twice daily of NAC (N-ACETYL CYSYEINE) about 3 weeks ago. This was prescribed by a nutritionist along with a B-complex and Omega 3. I was also taking L-theanine and Serotone 5-HTP - but I stopped this a week ago

A Genetic Cause for Iron Deficiency

Part 2 - Glysine and Sarcosine supplements - take them or not?
Background: Sarcosine (N-methylglycine) was previously delineated as a substantial oncometabolite of prostate cancer (PCa) and its metabolism seems to be significantly involved in PCa development and behavior. Methods: We focused on investigation whether the exposure of prostate cells (PNT1A, 22Rv1

Magnolol: A Neolignan from the Magnolia Family for the Prevention and Treatment of Cancer
The use of magnolia as treatment for advanced prostate cancer intrigued me after someone recently posted about a new discovery coming out of the U of TX. I couldn't find that info, but I found this fairly recent article. -quite maddening when I read this part under "conclusions": "Various animal studies

Bloods show low TSH AND T4 on NDT
Hi, I started Metavive II 6-7 months ago on advice of nutritionist who suggested 30mg. I raised every 2 weeks and settled on 5 caps a day. Had bloods tested without stopping Metavive and gynae was concerned at v low TSH, low normal T4. T3 was normal. I tested again after I stopped Metavive for 2 days

A conundrum for use v. non-use of specific amino acids in muscle atrophy and immune support for CLL patients
CLL and cancer patients, particularly those over 70, are often concerned about muscle wasting or muscle atrophy. Sarcopenia is characterized as the progressive loss of muscle mass that is typically associated with aging. These patients are frequently advised to increase their intake of dietary proteins

Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer.
New study below [1]. 15 years ago, with the immediate failure of my prostatectomy, Lupron was offerred as an option. Having read a large number of papers where ADT mostly failed within 18-24 months, & being only 56 at the time, I was puzzled why anyone would rush into a short-lasting palliative therapy

Important to consider sleep apnoea as a contributor to thyroid, fatigue and related metabolic troubles
Hi all. This post is as the heading, but first some context. It’s a bit of an essay. I’m no doctor, so this is an account of my own experience – we each have to make our own decisions. The take-away should you conclude it may be relevant is towards the bottom. It’s perhaps old hat by now, I’m a bit

Remission (YAY!) and post chemo immune boosters
Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a while since receiving the "remission" about 6 weeks ago, wanting to distance myself from cancer for a while. I was diagnosed with stage 4 OC back in May 2017 with a CA 125 of over 5000. I'm now at 27 after 10 months of carbo/taxol and surgery last August. Ultimately

Maspin. (& Curcumin, Luteolin, etc.)
New study below [1]. The Maspin-PCa literature is barely 20 years old, but there have been some intriguing findings. The name doesn't give much away - Maspin (mammary serine protease inhibitor). Maspin is considered to be a tumor suppressor gene. In PCa, its presence is associated with improved adhesion

My psych gave me
Serzone
/Nefazodone to try. I tried one and felt spacey all day. My primary gives me Clonazepam for the anxiety, but the psych gave me Alpralozam and it did nothing. Went back to the psych today and practically demanded she change me to Clonazepam.
