Steroid treatment or Seretide for flare up?
Hello all, I have recently had a troubling flare up of asthma. It's lasted about 3 weeks now. I feel like the sudden cold weather had a lot to do with it although i dont know for sure. At first i was told to double my steroid inhaler (i had actually not really used it much in the past 6 years, i'd been

Asthma is out of control again. I hate it, I wish the thing would start behaving
Well I am now into month 10 of the asthma being hell. I changed GP as my old GP was useless and the new one is so much better but I still seem to be seeing him every other week. I am so fed-up. I have been on 5 courses of prednisolone already this year which is 4 more than last year, been on anti-bioctics

Hello My son who is 6yrs old is on seretide 125 he has one puff in the morning and he has one puff at night, after an emergency admission this week this has been increased to two puffs at night. I just wandered if anyone else has followed a similar pattern and what the next step in medication might be

Steroid inhaler reduction
Hello, Would like to know how anyone's found this? I know there is a lot here on pred. reduction. I've been on max dose Seretide 250 i.e. 2 puffs twice a day. If no better on reducing to previous usual dose and have to go back up more regularly, what would happen then? Consider more pred. short course

Persistant Cough
I have had asthma for a few years now, it being adult onset asthma. My first ever attack was in a swimming pool, and I had to be dragged out of the pool. My asthma has been fine up until recently where I have had a persistant cough and sometimes a rattly chest as well, my medication has been changed

Resp Cons.
I think this is going to be quite a lengthy post so here goes.. Last year my paediatric respiratory consultant said I would have to move over to adult respiratory consultant. It took 5 months for my paeds consultant to write to the respiratory team to ask whether they would take over. I was no longer

Just need some advice
Hi, Just hoping some of u guys out there could share your thoughts as i'm not sure what to do. I've had a fairly bad summer, struggled to keep asthma in check and for the most part failed. Still having some trouble now. Basically, I was on symbicort 200/6, saw GP, was changed to Seretide, then to

All these foreign medicines
Hi! Long time no message. I've moved out to Japan on a more permenant basis now and just got settled in. I went into the clinic with dodgy lungs and sinuses earlier this week and got prescribed new medication (the doc said something about being newer, better and less fattening XD) Two most people

A bit of a rant - sorry!
Hi all, Been to see doc again this morning as I think I'm heading for a flare up again; not that it has still calmed down properly from last time! Peak flow is steady dropping, ventolin not as effective and sometimes symptoms are shifting a little after a double dose - 2 puffs and 2 again 10 mins later

Asthma attack in a jacuzzi
Hi Everyone I have asthma and am currently well controlled on Seretide and Montelukast. I've not had any Prednisolone this year (needed 4 courses in 7 months last year so a vast improvement) I like to swim 2-3 times per week; this is fine but I've noticed recently then when I get in the jacuzzi after

What else can I try - Now on 4th lot of Pred this year
Hi Everyone In the first part of the year I wasn't terribly compliant but since August this year my compliance and home monitoring has been excellent! I'm currently on Seretide 125 (2 puffs twice daily) this didn't give full control so in September I started Montelukast. This helped reduce the variability

PF worse in the evenings
Hi Guys After spending a while with my head in the clouds about asthma which has resulted in my already having 2 courses of Pred so far in August (and my 3rd course of 2010) I'm now getting to grips with taking my Seretide everyday and keeping a peak flow diary. I've noticed on bright dry days that

Should the pred have given me more improvement?
Hi Everyone, this is going to be a long post! I should be on Seretide 125 2 puffs twice daily and Salbutamol PRN. I'm hopeless at remembering to take my preventer and usually 'get away with it' However, I got an cold in early December which caused an exacerbation; but again I got away with it by having

Doubling of inhaled steroids
Hi Sorry, I have another question. Each time I have an exacerbation I get told in double the inhaled steroids. I know this advice is very old and thought that this advice had gone out of favour recently. The other problem I have is that since I am on Seretide, when I double, I'm also getting double

Stay on Seretide or switch to SMART
Hi everyone I'm currently using Seretide and have 250mcg twice daily. I'm also on Montelukast and only rarely needing the Salbutamol. So far I've not had any Steroids this year, have an exacerbation at the moment, but that is because I have a cold. This is in comparison with last year where I needed

Frustrated with GP
Hi Everyone I'm aksing for advice and useful information. I had a cold about 10 days ago which caused my asthma to worsen, more coughing, shortness of breath, falling peak flows. I saw a GP who advised me to double my inhaled steroids (I'm on Seretide Accuhaler 250) so have been having 2 puffs twice

Double Seretide & Other issues

Not confident with management of asthma
Hi Everyone I was diagnosed in 1997 and was managed by an absolutely brilliant asthma nurse! She gave me a fab self management plan which used peak flows and symptom scores and helpfully had stikers on my peak flow meter to help. Fast forward a few years and things are totally different.....I'm not
