New 2024 AUA/ASTRO/SUO Guidelines for Salvage Therapy

therapy
-for-prostate-cancer Not surprising. I think they should recommend adjuvant ADT at a PSA≥0.35 instead of ≥0.7 because I think patients are hoping for curative SRT and not just equivalent survival.

Salvage options?
(2) Are the side effects of
salvage
radiation
therapy
the same as if radiation was the initial treatment option? (3) What is the SOC for
salvage
hormone
therapy
(that is combined with
salvage
radiation) after RP? How long do you need to take hormones for?

HDR BT Salvage Therapy
Hello All I just completed the second BT procedure at MSK. Pain level was maybe 3 but mostly gone the next morning with some soreness. My next step I’m told is bloodwork in 3 months which I’m not concerned about. I am concerned about the 6 month MRI which could show if any cancer still remains. When

Waiting for PSA Rise Post-Surgery Before Obtaining PSMA-PET– waiting too long can put some patients at risk, MedPage Today, July 6, 2023.
The study found that
patients who received
radiation
therapy
at PSA levels higher than 0.25 ng/mL had a 49% increase in all-cause mortality risk (95% CI 1.11-2.00, P=0.008).

Psa rise soon after surgery, help!
And
Salvage
Therapy
also in his case. No need to overtreat him. But should he not have hormones?! Anyone with similar experience? Just waiting and not knowing is so hard on us. I am soo close my dad and just gave birth the same time that he had his surgery.

MRI-Guided ViewRay for Salvage Radiation
With prostate gone, it seems a higher portion of the bladder and rectum will be in the radiation target area when it comes to
salvage
therapy
, and hence causing more side effects.

10-year update still shows no benefit to ART vs early SRT
ART
= adjuvant radiation therapy, within 6 months after radical prostatectomy (RP)
early SRT
=
salvage
radiation
therapy
, after PSA ≥ 0.1ng/ml or 3 consecutive rises. Median was 0.2 ng/ml. Median 1 ½ years after RP.

PSA rising after salvage treatment
I had a radical prostatectomy in 2021 followed by
salvage
radio
therapy
. My psa levels have been rising slowly since then and I wondered if there was any advice as to what it might mean and if there is anything I should be doing at this point?

Is it PSA recurrence or not...
His MO wanted to see the third month's results in order to consider
salvage
radiation
therapy
. Luckily, third month's result came in at 0.012. Is it normal for PSA to fluctuate that much, from 0.006 to 0.029, then 0.012? Could this be a lab error? All tests were done at the same lab.

Post-prostatectomy cancer status + treatment
The medical way of saying the same thing: adjuvant or
salvage
therapy
. I've seen 2 oncologists so far. Can you guess what they said? 1 said adjuvant
therapy
, the other said
salvage

Failed RP & SRT; Negative PSMA PET
I had a radical prostatectomy that failed and then
salvage
radiation
therapy
that appears to have failed as well. A recent PSMA PET scan showed no signs of recurrent prostate cancer or metastases.

Input on Timing of Initial ADT after RP/SRT Failed
After surgery and

(SRT) have failed, it appears I'm headed for androgen deprivation therapy.

Duration of ADT needed with salvage radiation
New data from the "Formula 509" trial shows that hormone intensification with adjuvant apalutamide+abiraterone+ADT for just 6 months with
salvage
radiation
therapy
(SRT) may be all that's needed: https://www.prostatecancer.news/2023/02/duration-of-adt-needed-with-salvage.html

WHAT ARE THE CURRENT EFFECTIVE SALVAGE TREATMENTS IN CASE OF A REOCCURRENCE IF YOU HAVE HAD SBRT,IMRT, WITH PLACEMENT OF GOLD BARS?
It appears that if you had SBRT or like myself IMRT and you were given
gold markers
you cannot do any of the following
treatments in case of a reoccurrence : Proton
therapy
, Hifu, Tulsa Pro , Etc. Is this true???? Again a significant fact left out before treatment...

Sweet!
Had 2nd of 90 days Lupron Feb 1-23 as adjuvant 6-month ADT
therapy
with my
Salvage
IMRT. First PSA test yesterday and T level. Undetectable (less than .006 uPSA) and T level of 30. Here's to hoping it stays down.

Thank you Angela for sharing your story!
“I have never really been a sun worshipper but I have used sunbeds in the past. I used to hire one for use at home in my late teens/early 20’s then used the stand-up ones on and off at tanning salons a few years after that. I never thought there was any harm in using sunbeds and I can’t remember seeing
