Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Vitamin A (Retinol, Retinoic Acid [RA], Beta Carotene)
This is the first in a series of reviews of the PCa literature for foods & supplements. When I began looking at studies 12 years ago, I started with vitamin A, which I quickly discovered is not an easy topic. It goes on a bit, so for those who want the bottom line: do not supplement with vitamin A (

I already have retinA at home, wondering if I should use it.
about a year ago, way before my Dx, I bought retinA serum to treat my skin against the sun damage and the acne scars I had. I used it for a while on my face with a combination of vitamin C serum. All this bought on Ebay and without medical guidance I must say. I think we all heard about the promising

Fruit & PCa
Lifestyle changes are reportedly common following a PCa diagnosis, including a "healthier" diet. I suspect that most would not seek expert advice, because we all "know" what is healthier: more fruits & vegetable, less meat, less fat, more whole grains, & so on. Ask one's doctor for dietary advice,

Can PA effect the absorption of other vitamins?
Hi everyone, I've had Pernicious Anemia for approx ten years now, just turned 30 and experienced the same problems most of you had with getting a diagnosis. What I'd like to know is if you take other vitamins e.g ones to help with skin like vitamin A for acne or even something like a berocca, are they

Adrenal Fatigue
I have always been very lucky with my health, played football into my late forties and ran distance for many years without any serious injury, completing two marathons in 2013 at the age of 52. At that time, I was very busy with work and also renovating our bungalow. A few weeks after my last marathon

Can anyone help please?
I have had AF since 1994 following pneumonia. For the last 4ish years I have been on Verapamil; Digoxin and Warfarin which seemed to keep me pretty well balanced, apart from the usual blip occasionally. I also have psoriasis, only on the palms of my hands, and recently agreed to have PUVA treatment.

Retinoic acid receptor–related orphan receptor γ (ROR-γ) & the Androgen Receptor (AR)
New study below [1]. Don't be put off by the title. When I decided to methodically go through the PubMed PCa literature 12 years ago, I began with vitamins. I can tell you that Vitamin A is the worst starting point. Expecting a single receptor for retinol. I discovered that there was a retinoic

Out of curiosity, do you eat food made of blood?
Just curious, over here in Finland eating food from blood is quite common and it is the best way to restore iron levels, of course. I have not eaten food made of blood for a while as it is either pancake type of food or sausages which contain gluten, if gluten free then rice or corn which I am highly

How can I avoid all these foods?
Good morning everyone, It seems like my "avoid" list is growing longer every month. Since sticking to this I have lost just over a stone (since the end of December) I am always hungry and feeling worse because of it. I had been doing really quite well healthwise until I was told (by a professional

Itching
The major effect my MPN has on me beside fatigue is itching. I have itched since before first diagnosis in 1994. Have tried so many drugs . Numerous anti-histamines, cimetidine, paroxetine, steroids ,thalidomide, interferon ( made it worse). The only thing that helped was very large doses of PUVA but

Good morning Everyone, Since I started working at BLF in 2009 we have regularly received enquiries about a trial from back in 2006. The trial, as reported in the Daily Mail, was to develop a drug 'to make damaged lungs regrow' The statement below was released at the time, but since this we have heard

I discovered that my Intron A interferon was 3 months out of date when I went to give myself my jab last night. Does anyone know if this is dangerous? Thanks Mel x

Kerrygold butter explained. Important for hypos.
Loads of people keep asking me about non-cafo fed cattle, and the butter Kerrygold, which is the only one in the Uk that I know about, which is from non-cafo fed cattle. Here is a very good link to the benefits of Kerrygold butter, No. 1 tells you about the vitamin A importance for thyroid and adrenal
