Opioids can cause adrenal insufficiency
Hi everyone, It appears that opioids can cause adrenal insufficiency. This is something I have not seen mentioned here. Does anyone know about this? Here are a few articles. I think this has relevance to anyone trying to taper through the lower doses of pred if they are taking opioids for pain or any

Questions
The time has come when I need to make a decision about whether to go with hemo or peritoneal dialysis. That brings up many questions. If on peritoneal dialysis do you ever get a decent nights sleep or are you constantly awakened with alarms pain etc. Is the machine very loud - I have a hard time

Dialysis / RLS
Wow, this sub is a lot more active than the Kidney Disease sub, one would think it would be the other way around. I guess RLS is a lot more prevalent than people think? I never experienced or even heard of RLS before starting dialysis but boy did it hit me hard. It's already hard to sleep while doing

Switching to home hemodialysis
I have been on peritoneal dialysis using a cycler, which has been wonderful, for two years. Unfortunately my clearance has been falling over the last four months and treatment increase in the amount of dextrose has caused me to gain nearly 30 lb. My clinic has me scheduled to begin training for home

Elevated creatinine from tacrolimus?
I am 19 months out from my kidney transplant from a deceased donor. Was doing well and my creatinine was actually within the normal range at about a year post transplant. However, since then my creatinine has been creeping up and now is 1.74. Have tried lowering my protein intake, and more hydration

10 Year Anniversary
A few weeks ago I realized this is the ten-year anniversary of when I started dialysis. I started in August of 2013 in the days after I had a knee surgery. I was 14 years old. I'm now 24 years old. In the time since I started dialysis I started and finished high school, started and finished college,

teeth whitening
good morning everyone I don’t know if anyone on here has had any experience with tooth whitening products, only I’ve seen an advert for a tooth whitening powder which I’m very tempted to try, especially as it’s dentist approved and is peroxide-free. I’m just wondering about the Alendronic Acid I’m

Home dialysis will soon be possible for more kidney patients
Just in time for World Kidney Day, March 9, Israeli company gets FDA nod for game-changing home digital dialysis system. Healthy kidneys automatically filter waste from the blood 24/7. Effect of thyroid dysfunction on N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide levels: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Papers regarding the impact of inappropriate thyroid hormone levels keep coming out. It would be a miracle if endocrinologists showed any evidence of having read them. And incorporated the lessons into their practices. [i]

vitamin A test results
I’d be very grateful for an opinion on my vitamin A test results from Medichecks. (My GP told me ‘We don’t test vitamin A’, (!!!?), so I got private testing, though it’s not one of the cheaper tests. ) I know conversion of beta-carotene to retinol can be an issue in hypothyroidism, and although I have

Fed Up with everything.
I have been on haemodialysis since May. Having completed all the tests etc at the beginning of November, I was just waiting to go live in the transplant list. My previous consultant, who is now on maternity leave, said my results were good and she even said, I would probably receive a new kidney before

Peritoneal dialysis and Neck pain at night during exchanges ……any help? Asking for my mother
Reaching out to this expert community to see if anyone has any experience and advice so I can help my mother. She has been on peritoneal dialysis for about 3-4years. Her exchanges happen at night on machine (not manually). Most recently she has been dealing with pretty significant neck pain. That happens
