Hi all you lovely lot, I hope you're all keeping as well as can be expected. I have just returned from a week away although I was reluctant to go as I didn't want to leave my mum. She was diagnosed with emphysema and a couple of other things (which seem to change with each Dr we see) and is currently

Words of Wisdom?
Hi! I'm 34yo and started getting PVCs after the birth of my first child (in 2009). My cardiac issues have gotten worse after each baby ( I have 3). I've had many bouts of SVT that usually stop quickly, but 4 times I have gone to the ER. I'm on 25mg of a beta blocker which helps with my PVCs a bit but

Good or bad?
Hi all, I hope posting this is ok but I'm not sure where else to ask: I've been feeling a bit breathless and fatigued this past few weeks. Thought it was because of poor sleep and hayfever (I get post-nasal drip and sore throats). Blew into a spirometer (following all the instructions). The following

Scanner results - confused
Hi, I just got my scanner results today but still have to see my pneumologist in a couple of days. The comments on the scanner talk about moderate emphysema, but it also seems to talk about Bronchectasies, it's all medical words so I dont understand it all. Iam confused because if my spiro tests were

Flecainide - usage and dosage
He said he had successfully ablated
PVC
foci in patients whose lives were plagued by thousands of them. Flecainide is organising my signals into runs of tachycardia and he advises not exceeding 200mg daily, so progression will mean ablation.

Copd diagnosed 5 years ago (2011)
Hello all, thought I would share my recent results which I am very happy with: I was diagnosed with copd 5 years ago, had been smoking 20 per day for 38 years. I stopped on 27 May 2012 at 5.45pm! My fev1 was 72% then. (Moderate) Over past 4 years I took up gym and swimming regularly - I am now 56,

Spirometry Test Not Good News
I had my Spirometry test last week. It was FEV1 29%. Two years ago it was 45%. I haven't smoked for 4 years. My consultant said it would not get worse if I didn't smoke. I was very disappointed.

VERY SCARED
I have today received a copy of a letter sent by Thoracic consultant to my Rheumatologist and Prof Denton, in which she says she suspects I may have something called "PULMONARY VENO-OCCLUSIVE DISEASE" and silly me, looked it up, now terrified. The letter also sates that my FEV1 and FVC are 'well preserved

READING BREATHING TESTS
Hi, a spirometer is a device one puts on the finger to determine oxygen content of blood and pulse rate. It is small and you can order it on Amazon. The top number is the oxygen content of your blood which should be above 90. In healthy people it's between 90 and 95, If your O2 (oxygen) levels go down

New lung issues.
I finally snapped and pressed my doctor to run some tests. You guys know I have been posting for ages on here about how I feel like a 91 year old man. My doctor sent me for a sleep study just to shut me up. I told the sleep doctor about all of my breathing issues so he sent me for a pulmonary function

How high is too high for HR
I am new to the AF world, & have been taking Pradaxa for about two weeks with no awful side effects so far. I have taken Verapamil for many years for PVCs (which maybe was actually AF). About a month ago I had palpitations lasting about 20 hours. My GP did an ECG & diagnosed AF & sent me to an EP.
