Suffering from incontinence?
I had a radical
prostatectomy
, followed by 35 treatments of radiation a year later and underwent a orchiectomy a year later. Since that time I have been cancer free.

Radical retropubic
prostatectomy
. Detectable PSA 18 months post surgery. Salvage radiation 2003. PSA has continued to rise almost continuously to current level – 197.8. Have been on Lupron + Casodex for a while, then Lupron + Nilandron (nilutamide), then Lupron only since 2012.

Radiation
In October, I had a radical
prostatectomy
at the VA hospital. In January, I had a follow-up PSA test with a level of 0.07. The doctors told me it should be 0.00 but no more than 0.02 so I still have cancer somewhere in the tissue. My Gleason index was 4+4 after the surgery.

A Personal Introduction
As a result I underwent a radical
prostatectomy
and cystectomy (bladder removal) along with lymph nodes and my appendix. The surgery took over 11 hours to perform and required the creation of a stoma (urostomy) using part of my small bowel for urination purposes.

My Intro - Ned in St Louis
Had a
prostatectomy
in Oct 2010. Gleason was 7 (4+3). Both seminal vesicles were involved and staging was Tc3. One positive margin in the surgical pathology. Had hormone therapy (Zoladex) in 2011. At same time had IMRT (radiation), with 37 treatments.

My introduction
My cancer showing resistance in 2010, I had a radical
prostatectomy
on medical advice. The most soul destroying day of my life was when the surgeon told me that there was no sign of cancer, so it must have metastasized elsewhere. I have been cycling though my regime of drugs ever since.

First 3 months on combined androgen blockade...
In May 2002 I had radical
prostatectomy
at Sloan Kettering in NY. My Gleason grade was 4 + 3 = 7 and pathology showed spread to a seminal vesicle but otherwise margins were clear. After surgery my PSA fell to a nadir of 0.003 (Nov 2002).

Living with Metastatic Prostate Cancer
The urology center had a surgeon employed so the doctor recommended a radical
prostatectomy
. There were two people at work that had the procedure and they highly recommended that I do the same. So I interviewed surgeons only, and had a radical
prostatectomy
in November 2010.

Lipids & aggressive PCa in the PRACTICAL consortium
The study included some men with "biochemical recurrence following radical
prostatectomy
", but there is no mention of how many, in this small study, were on ADT.

After effects
Was given some medicine to halt the progress and in 2012 I had a Robotic
Prostatectomy
. The surgeon, Dr. Lee , one of the finest men I have ever visited in 75 years, advised he took out not only the prostrate but glands and areas around there to minimize chances it had migrated elsewhere.

Classified as "intermediate" risk....urologist suggested open nerve-sparing radical
prostatectomy
, which is what I've decided to go ahead with. Surgery is scheduled for April 11, 2016...

New Here not New to Prostate Cancer
I have done everything that could have ended in a cure
Prostatectomy
in 2008, Salvage Radiation 2014 now as I wait for the PSA to reach 1.0 (currently 0.8) to join a study that is not curative, and at best may provide an additional 2-3 years.

Hi There!
I had an open radical

in 2002. I was diagnosed at age 33. My family history is very strong. Prior to my diagnosis I worked in finance and private equity for 14 years.

urinary incontinence 3 years after surgery
While I was able to give up the diapers 1 year after
prostatectomy
surgery, I still leak small amounts in the evenings...which can be embarrassing and a pain.... I do Kegels whenever I am in urinating in the bathroom....3 second hold, 3 second flow, repeat... which does help I believe...

Cancer diagnosed and awaiting surgery
I am due to have a radical
prostatectomy
within weeks, but am not too sure about the op (DaVinci robotic keyhole surgery) and wonder at age 74 whether a 'watch and wait' would be a viable option. Any thoughts please.

Well, I've had my op!
Back at home now after the
prostatectomy
. Adapting to life with a catheter for wee while. (Sorry - awful pun!) And adapting to a routine of poodling around gently for a bit. (Not my style really - but needs must).
