TSH of 18.76 yet i'm told i'm on "appropriate medication"
Hi all, I know TSH isn't everything, however, I'm puzzled as to how the notes on my file after my NHS TFT last week say "on appropriate medication"! Just to recap, I had been taking 100mg levo daily for 6 weeks (having reduced from 125mg after being well over range for T4 and having symptoms). My private

What's an average thyroid gland size? How small is mine in comparison after RAI? Measurements are here.
I had RAI many years ago, and now take T3 with T4. I was interested to find out how much of my thyroid is left, and I wondered if it being smaller was the reason I now need the T3. So I had a private thyroid ultrasound done. It gives me measurements, but doesn't say how it compares with a 'normal' or

High TSH, High T4, Low T3 - advice please
Hi everyone, I posted on here around 6 weeks ago after feeling worse and worse and getting nowhere with my GP/Endo. I had RAI back in Feb 20 and since coming off block and replace (due to the reaction after RAI), I can’t say I’ve felt well for more than a couple of weeks at a time. I really started going

Reference Levels for TSH in Iodine-Sufficient Low-Risk Pregnant Women
Just don't be different! If TSH levels are, as stated, population specific because of differences in ethnicity, then we need a rather more significant changes than just making the top of the TSH reference interval a bit higher. I think it easy to imagine a clinic in the north of India. They pick up

Hello! So I have an appointment with an endocrinologist the week after next so I want to make sure I am prepared and make the most of the appointment I have been waiting for. I have been around this forum on an off for a while, some might remember me. I had Grave's as a child and RAI when I was 17,

Out of Sync - Hypo to Hyper. Need advise on results/vitamins please.
Hello all, Brief intro - am ‘induced’ hypo (2 radioactive iodine tests) to break down nodules. Been on thyroxine for 20+ years (fluctuate between 75mcg/100mcg daily) - currently Levo. Moved to Spain a few years ago but been complacent with tests (self medicating at 100mcg). Have been feeling a bit ‘edgy

C.T.Scan
I am due for a C.T.Scan, is it risky? I have no thyroid, am on 75mcg T4 and 15mcg T3. I know they inject dye which has iodine into you to do the scan, am I right in saying that you shouldn't have iodine if you have a thyroid problem or are on thyroid medication? I have been reading that the iodine can

Visit with endocrinologist this week... first after starting NDT
My endocrinologist has been in the process of changing to a new practice, so I haven't been in touch with him for a couple of months. I had full labs drawn a couple of weeks ago, and I'll be seeing him this week for the first time at his new practice. Before he moved, I was on 50 mcg of levothyroxine

Can thyroid cause red palms?
I never had bright red palms but kinda pink/ red my whole life. I had thyroid iodine last year to kill my thyroid and since have had red palms. My levels are normal with meds but I still have done mild symptoms. My endocrinologist doesn’t think thyroid though.

Flare up/ symptoms / need to induce period
So I’ve been on the increase of Armour for a week and a couple days. I went from 15 to 30. I take the 30mg at 6 am before any other supplements, go back to sleep. When I wake up, I take the rest of my supplements. Which is vitamin d, vata supplement from banyan botanicals (this is good for me, I’ve used

Non-surgical management of thyroid nodules - the role of ablative therapies
Many here have asked about alternatives to surgery and radioactive iodine - and in some cases, there might be some. This paper seems to be supporting two specific options. Have to say, the phrase "treatments of choice" sticks in my throat. Possibly they have been better than the depressingly bad alternative

Hashi, milk (iodine), nexplanon >>TSH going crazy
Hello 32 year old female here with coeliac & under active thyroid. Underactive thyroid first flagged up when I was 15 and put on T4 levothyroxine at age 21. Steady dosage of ~150-175 mcg per day. I have thyroid antibodies. I am vit D deficient (working on). Two years ago TSH levels jumped from 0.5 (

Anyone had RAI or thyroidectomy for recurrent chronic thyroiditis?
Hello all and happy holidays. I don’t expect a reply as everyone will be busy but having had a 2 recent thyroid ultrasounds, the consultant radiologist said I had chronic thyroiditis which probably has been going on for quite a long time (don’t I know it- 2 months off work and still waiting for my body

what does this indicate ? high iodine , borderline hypothyroid .
Hi, new to forum . over ten years I have been told several times borderline hypothyroid. I feel more and more fatigued mentally and physical , thought hrt would help , made no difference . urine iodine from biolabs was 213 = more than adequate .Therefore not lacking in iodine . is thyroxine the best

The Nutritional Supply of Iodine and Selenium Affects Thyroid Hormone Axis Related Endpoints in Mice
Good to see some more research on these issues. I suspect a lot of the standard picture of selenium and iodine with respect to thyroid wellness requires much verification and a fair bit of revision. The continuing problem is identifying what needs to be done - and how to achieve appropriate levels

Iodine deficiency disturbs the metabolic profile and elemental composition of human breast milk
Sometimes it appears that the thyroid world divides in two - on the one hand, those who avidly promote taking iodine, sometimes in prodigious quantities, and on the other hand, those who dismiss iodine out of hand. What I consider necessary is an understanding of where you are in terms of iodine levels
