Winter running - some tips
We often see posts here from beginners and new graduates asking how to approach their running as the days get shorter and the weather worsens. Whilst the advice in this video from Mike James ('The Endurance Physio' - also a very experienced triathlete/runner and coach) has *not* been tailored for C25Kers

Time to Lose Weight
With not being able to use my prosthetic for nine months, being mainly confined to a wheelchair and with zero physio my weight has shot up to 102.6 kg. One problem is the more I weigh the greater my insulin requirements and the faster the weight gain. I have decided to post to try and increase my motivation

Feeling fed up, after feeling elated a few weeks ago. Thanks to Joanna Lane of the Christopher Lane Trust, my husband was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency, and is going to receive treatment. Then he was also due to start physio on Monday, so everything was looking up. Then his breathlessness

Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.
Had my operation on Wednesday and glad to say that all went well. No complications apart from my blood pressure and oxygen levels in recovery, kept me in there for 6 hours or so. But anyway I’m home now and recovering well. Physio say 3 months recovery and consultant says 7 weeks. I see how I go after

All good intentions of running yesterday..... Derailed by a kakky night shift, coupled with the magnetic forces of a warm bed grrrrrrr... Not so today Ian oh no. After dispatching the oversleeping daughters, it's wake up time... The standard breakfast of champions and a coffee, Dip a toe outside yep

I had a stent fitted in February after having ‘muscular’ type chest pain and being a little out of breath. Gp sent me for checks more to do with my fam history. The problem is I am still suffering with intense muscular chest pain including v much on my left side and it’s getting so bad I can’t walk anywhere

Sore knees
Has anyone got any advice on what to do with sore knees. I had to stop shuffling at the end of August because my tight knee was painful. I'm desperate to get back out again, I feel like a slug and at 66 I'm worried I'll never run again. I've seen a physio, who said it's probably arthritis, gave me a

Dose pack of methyl prednisone while on 4 mg of prednisone
Good morning. I am currently on 4mg of prednisone daily and auto injections of Actemra once a month. This is my sixth year trying to keep my PMR under control. Things have been going well for the last four months. Unfortunately I have two herniated disc’s due to a kayak trip. I have seen a neurosurgeon

Today is November 13
Today is November 13. Today marks exactly one year since my father was admitted to the hospital for what we would later find out was septic shock. At 10:24am, as I was attempting to walk my dad down the stairs to take him to the ER because he did not seem well, my dad stopped breathing. I laid him down

Rheumy appointment F2F - good outcome...
Good morning, I had the appointment on Monday, to follow up and review everything: - I am taking the sub-cut Tocilizumab. The first 4 months were amazing, life back 90%. It was truly wonderful. Then I started getting a few aches and pains again with an RA feel to them and occasional days of fatigue.

Bulging disc - time off work?
I've had a bulging disc in my neck (c8) for quite some time. I saw a chiropractor earlier in the year which relieved it somewhat but it has flared again. I'm not restricted in movement but it gives me numbness / tingling in digits 4 and 5 of my right hand and a pain in my tricep. I have a physio appointment

tapering after a wrongly diagnosed flare!
About 6 weeks ago I started getting some acute pain especially in one leg. My surgery suggested I should increase the pred. dose to 5mg (I was previously on 3 1/2.) This had no effect so I increased the dose to 10mg for a week. By then I was in so much pain that I went to the doctor who did not know

Well, phooey!
I’ve not been posting recently because a grumbly hip has prevented me from running . It’s my own fault because I probably overdid things when given permission to start trotting again following the first time it grumbled at me. So basically no running for most of this year! So that nice Mr Physio has
