Possible bloated stomach and bronchiectasis
Hi everyone I'm 60 years old and have just been diagnosed with 'mild' bronchiectasis. I have been coughing for months and expectorating just a little greenish phelgm every day. The consultant is sending me to a chest physio as treatment in the first instance. Is this best course of action? He's not

Follow-up: ER Visit for Excruciating Back Spasms
On advice of my former Neurologist, I went into the ER on Wednesday past and sat for 4 hours. Could sit no longer due to the spasms from hip girdle to diaphragm and a little higher. Left the ER. Yesterday, I decided to go in the morning. Waited about 2 hrs. They gave me a shot of something which starts

Week seven done!
I'm back - after a LONG break. It was all going swimmingly till Feb 2019. I'd lost around 3 stone in weight, graduated Couch to 5K, doing parkruns, did Bridge to 10k, loving it all. Then Feb 2020 - during a 10K run, fell over going too fast downhill. Nasty fracture of two knuckles. Got operated on

Exercising with active RA
Is this the sort of thing that
physiotherapy
services help with? Should my RA be under control before embarking on new exercising?

Week 4 Deja Vu
Had to repeat a few runs as had a break but week 4 now in the bag. clip on slow running really useful and despite arthritis in knees can imagine getting to week 9 as a possibility. I did check with my physio and a personal trainer that this was ok first.

Further update on accident and pred
Whether it was the right dose or not the 15mg of pred was enough to sort out my low blood pressure problems enough. I'm down to 10 now with instructions to go down .5 mg a month from when I get home. I'll see how I go when I get home but if it works it won't take too long to get back down to 6 and then

Symptom Help
Morning everyone, I don’t want to sound rude, but before everyone jumps on and asks what my tests results have been lately I am waiting for a copy of them as they do not show on my hospital app. i am just posting to see if anyone has ever experienced anything similar as I am becoming extremely annoyed

Running and obesity - update- part one! 🏃♀️
In October 2022, I posted about how my obesity was holding me back from improving my running. I received many lovely helpful replies and I promised I would update. Well, its a tale of two halves. I've not run at all in 2023 due to an ongoing injury, BUT, I have got my BMI down from 35 to 29. I am

First run since my hand surgery and it was a hot one!
I had the dressings removed and stitches out, so now it’s all about physio to get my hand functioning well again. Right, time to get out for a run, I thought. I didn’t manage a super early start but I was out by 7.30am and that’s early for me. The shade and breeze were lovely and that helped a

This will amuse some of you. When I was working my boss put an advert out for a COPD specialist physio. The really "clever" people in the jobs department advertised this as a "specialist for Central Out Patients Department" as all the locals call it COPD! Needless to say it was withdrawn and redone correctly

Recent TSH reading came back at 0.02..is this as bad as the GP surgery pharmacist suggests??
Hope this makes sense. Around September last year amongst usual symptoms of Carpal tunnel, IBS, tiredness, aches, weight gain etc I developed a new issue. Initially I thought I'd damaged my left shoulder rotator cuff..I couldn't remember damaging it but I suddenly couldn't raise my left arm past shoulder

Being injured is Sooooo frustrating
It’s been a while since I last wrote that my running progress had been halted by a hamstring strain which feels some time ago. Thinking it wouldn’t take too long to repair itself was a thought I clung on to for quite some time. I tend not to think about the time frame more about when will I be ready

Hot Weather Coming
I have just been outside for a 15-minute run (well wheelchair max'ing). The sun is really hot and after 15 minutes I felt I had had enough sun! Anyway the weather forecast for the weekend is hot and sunny with temperatures reaching 30C in many areas. So all us hearties, and others, should avoid prolonged

Starting Again!!
I completed C25K in January. I managed to run 4.25k in 30 minutes then started having pain in my adductors and ITB. Long story short after the Physio diagnosed a tight hamstring and gave me some exercises I feel ready to start running again. I have horses, do Pilates and swim regularly. Am I mad to go

question for you all. Do you know of any insurance type policies that cover age care or long term care ?
Do you know of any insurance type policies that cover age care or long term care ? I asked chatGPT if there is such a thing and it lists the following but won’t give me links to any actual products! I can’t find any in NZ even though it gives me a list of companies that sell them. Apparently news

Wrong diagnosis
Hi everyone, I don't post very much, a bit of a lurker but I will be leaving the group anyway but thought I would share my recent update. Three years ago after raised infection markers at my previous doctors I was diagnosed with PMR and put on 40mg steroids, tapering dose. I was not referred to see

Swollen Feet
My HWP, 84 1/2 yrs old has swollen feet for a few years now. Reported to me that his feet hurt and woke him up this morning. Mostly the tops of his feet are swollen. Had to buy him shoes with a loose tongue and velcro straps so he can get his chunky feet into the shoe. My thumbs get a good workout acting

Week 7 Run 1 - Imposter Syndrome strikes
I took a three day break from running due to London trip, but clearly my step count meant my fitness continued to improve. So I did the 25 minute run one yesterday with no issues ... except in my head. I've had enough of feeling imposterish with my writing, so for it to appear and start nagging away

Don't know What's happening to me!!
Doc recommended 2 x Amytryptyline in Feb., after it was discovered I had 2 x damaged discs in my lower back. Referred me to Physio, (appt. on 22nd!)I was OK for a couple of months, then started to feel dizzy, lost my appetite and taste, everything tastes sweet!, even a roast dinner. Went to see ACP
