Swollen Feet
My HWP, 84 1/2 yrs old has swollen feet for a few years now. Reported to me that his feet hurt and woke him up this morning. Mostly the tops of his feet are swollen. Had to buy him shoes with a loose tongue and velcro straps so he can get his chunky feet into the shoe. My thumbs get a good workout acting

Week 7 Run 1 - Imposter Syndrome strikes
I took a three day break from running due to London trip, but clearly my step count meant my fitness continued to improve. So I did the 25 minute run one yesterday with no issues ... except in my head. I've had enough of feeling imposterish with my writing, so for it to appear and start nagging away

Don't know What's happening to me!!
Doc recommended 2 x Amytryptyline in Feb., after it was discovered I had 2 x damaged discs in my lower back. Referred me to Physio, (appt. on 22nd!)I was OK for a couple of months, then started to feel dizzy, lost my appetite and taste, everything tastes sweet!, even a roast dinner. Went to see ACP

Phantom Pain and Vitamin D
Recently at Amputee Physio someone (not an amputee or physio) told me the way to alleviate was to take high doses of Vitamin D although they didn't know how high high was! This sounds like nonsense to me. I have been on 1000 IU per day for a few years since a blood test showed my level to be 24% of

It would have helped to exercise my arm and shoulder following lung surgery in order to avoid frozen shoulder
For those of you having any lung surgery… Please remember to regularly move your body, and especially exercise your arm/shoulder after the surger(ies.) I had chest tubes, pleurodesis, pleurectomy, lung resection, etc. (excuse misspelling.) I felt pain and discomfort after the surgeries so I didn’t move

Holiday Time
We running has taken a backseat since Monday as I have had an eventful few days so far in Spain! However we did a coach trip to Murcia and Calasparra! Lots of walking taking in the Beautiful Cathedral in Murcia and two more church’s. We walk through the city centre which maintains lots of moorish heritage

Knowing when NOT to run !
Well I said in an earlier post that I probably wouldn't post all my runs , but a few people have asked me to do so and I therefore said I would. So what happened to week 2 run 2 you may ask ? Well quite simply, it hasn't happened yet. Week 2 run 1 was on Tuesday morning and went absolutely fine, so

Running and Long Covid
When we went into the first lockdown, I was already ill in bed with Covid. It totally knocked me for six. I was ill for a month. Okay for a few days. Ill for a couple of weeks. Okay for a week. And then it really began. It developed into pneumonia that took some shifting. When I finally got out of bed

Has anyone heard of of Tame the Beast? At my last Physio appointment he said to watch the YouTube video when I got home, which I did. I also looked up the website about this and it goes on about pain systems being over protective I don t fully understand it and just wondered if anyone else had been

W9 jinxed! Again!!!
Wednesday R1, went great, feeling really optimistic about getting across the final hurdle this time. Then we loaded up the campervan, put the bikes on the back and headed off for a few days cycling in the sunshine. Again, this was great, although the longer rides were very tiring, so no running. Got

Hi everyone, I haven't been on here for quite a while. I have at last got down to 1mg of pred which 6 months ago I thought it would never happen. I stumbled on 5mgs for ages but eventually I was able to keep lowering and being at 1mg after 22months from my diagnosis of Poly mialgia, I think I 've been

3 month post hip op. Please can I hear from you how you progressed over the months if your leg was a lot shorter after op- what is outcome
hi Apologies sincerely to harp on. The leg is scarily shorter. 34 mill. I see surgeon next week but need to prepare questions to hopefully get my way forward due to this short leg, He told me on the phone to just walk and not exercise,? and I have a pain at bottom of buttock now which is unhelpful

5 years on from starting C25k
I wasn’t sure where to put this post. I spend most of my time on the Marathon forum these days, but as today marks my 5th anniversary of starting couch to 5k at age 66 I thought that it might be an idea to post here where I started out. The impetus for starting C25k was a spinal injury which took some

Still breathless after 3 years of open heart surgery
end of 2019 I had open heart surgery to repair my mitral valve, close small hole and do ablation for fibrillation. Not getting proper aftercare or physio after the operation, I had to rely on an app for all that , due to the covid situation. I did my best and after we got back to proper cardio exercise
